Tapestry Share

All about learning and making handwoven tapestry. Monday, January 26, 2015. Finishing Tapestry with Hem or Turn-back. Above is the piece laid out on the grid board. Weft ends have been trimmed and the piece has been steam pressed (I didn't block* it, just gave it a pressing using steam in the iron and a dampened press cloth on top). The turn-backs were finger pressed down and T-pinned, then steam pressed and left overnight. Finished turn-backs on both top and bottom; I've trimmed the warp ends a bit more...

Tapestry Share: Warp Sett--a few options and opinions

http://tapestryshare.blogspot.com/2012/06/warp-sett-few-options-and-opinions.html

All about learning and making handwoven tapestry. Saturday, June 2, 2012. Warp Sett- a few options and opinions. Ther people will, of course, have their own opinions and suggestions. First, let's take a look at Archie Brennan's excellent article called "The Space Between the Warps". That's posted at the American Tapestry Alliance website. Space, placing the warp wraps closely together, and then using that number of wraps as the number of ends per inch. 8 epi, 12/12 cotton seine warp, 3-fold wool weft.

Pages 485-486- (a method similar to what Kathe Todd-Hooker calls it braiding in her book Tapestry 101,. Pages 85-86). However, I don't. Ruth Lathlean: Pastel Paintings

http://ruthlathlean.blogspot.com/2015/02/pastel-paintings.html

Lover of colour, texture and design. Sunday, 22 February 2015. These are two soft pastel paintings I did at Lyn Diefenbach's workshop in January. Her demos on technique were excellent. I'm still working on a portrait painting. From a photograph of waves breaking on sand. From a photo of Half Dome in Yosemite National Park. Posted by Ruth Lathlean. Ruth Lathlean: June 2014

http://ruthlathlean.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html

Lover of colour, texture and design. Thursday, 19 June 2014. Tiffany Lampshade in 'Poppy' Design. I have been making this lampshade for over three years but finally I mounted it on a stand today and put the lights on. Although there are some things not quite right as it was hard to make, these all fade into the background when it is lit up. I am very pleased. The diameter is about 52cm so it is quite large with three globes. Posted by Ruth Lathlean. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Mabel's Wish: low tide ~

http://mabelswish.blogspot.com/2010/07/low-tide.html

Sunday, July 11, 2010. Like a year ago, Steve and I went to Point Whitehorn Reserve to walk on the beach and see the sights. It is surprising how things are different year to year. Today the water was crystal clear and a large area of lovely solid sandy beach was perfect for walking. We were pretty much alone on the beach for most of the time it was lovely. We took our shoes off and enjoyed the sand. Such contrast between the grey of the sand and the purple of the starfish. July 12, 2010 at 10:11 PM.

Mabel's Wish: 45 ~ what an odd number?

http://mabelswish.blogspot.com/2010/05/45-what-odd-number.html

Friday, May 14, 2010. 45 what an odd number? How the hell did that happen? 160; How can one feel smarter, slower, wittier, mellower, all at once? I think the answer is 45. My life is summed up in the birthday card doodle from my husband:. I’m weaving tapestry (or learning);. The cat is sleeping in his “cat-bowl” bed;. My dad is sitting in the hospital next to my mom laying in bed (last weekend);. And Steve is coming home after his swing shift, calling out, “I’m home.”. Cat in cat bowl: Fine. By hand tatt...

Mabel's Wish: October 2009

http://mabelswish.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html

Thursday, October 22, 2009. Ode to my future. As I go through the day, I think about my hands constantly. It has become a nervous habit, rubbing my sore knuckles. I still pop and snap them all day long, but the affected area has nothing to do with cracking knuckles. It’s age. It’s use. It’s arthritis. You can’t help but notice that Olivia hid her hands. They were always tucked under in a way to not show the arthritis that had settled in her joints. In most posed photos she has her hand hidden from view.

Mabel's Wish: bear ~

http://mabelswish.blogspot.com/2010/06/bear.html

Sunday, June 6, 2010. Gave this little bear tapestry to my boss (Connie) who is retiring in 12 days.  She collects Southwestern type bears. So after the workshop with Sarah Swett, I had to weave a little bear for her gift.  I placed it in a narrow framed shadow box which made it impossible to take a photo of it. So below is the bear out of the box. June 7, 2010 at 9:35 PM. Hi Miss Julie - so sorry to hear that your mom had a stroke - sounds like she is doing well - give her my best wishes! To be like gra...

Tapestry's Imaginings

Saturday, June 27, 2015. Busy past few days. I babysat my youngest grandson, Wesley, for a few hours so his folks could meet up with some friends. He is so darned adorable! As I know that if something does arrive and isn't working at least the money spent goes to a worthy organization. I've bid and won many auctions over the years and I've never been disappointed with them. It's been lovely here today with the sun shining and beautiful temps. I hope wherever you are you enjoy your day! Links to this post.

Tapestry Singers - Home

Tapestry is a mixed-voice, a-cappella chamber choir of thirteen singers based in Cambridgeshire, U.K. Formed in 1996, our repertoire has grown considerably every year, offering period and contemporary sacred music, via a wide variety of genres, to more up-beat popular songs almost always unaccompanied. We are grateful to All Saints Church, Huntingdon for allowing us to rehearse with an excellent acoustic, and to the Free Church (URC) St Ives, the venue for many concerts. Our most recent event:.
