Nature and its beauty have been the inspiration for my work for many years. I am fascinated by the sensuousness of Light. To witness the morning light, the filtered light through the trees and the soft haze of a fog. To capture nature’s essence and communicate it with my painting. To consciously avoid elaboration, rather leave a soft mark that allows the viewer to fill in the restthe way the fog slowly lifts on a misty morning. BFA, School of Visual Arts, New York, NY. Tuscany has been a destination for artists throughout history, however, I was not prepared for this overwhelming visual experience! A group of 12 artists, led by Lisa Pressman, head to Tuscany to study abstraction. Not being an abstract artist, I was going for the landscapes. Golden light everywhere…. its spellbinding! I'm still under the golden spell.

Wednesday, January 26, 2011. Fog on Snow Paintings. Fog on Snow ll. I've been loving and hating the abundance of snow this season, It's a drag to shovel and drive in this, but just look out the window, it's amazing. I took. A walk in the reservation two weeks ago when it was really foggy. The translucent white on top of the already white landscape was awe inspiring. The effect made you stand still and feel the presence of nature. Here are a couple paintings in progress from that walk.
