Growing up Bernie was our babysitter/housekeeper and occasionally she would cook for us. My favorite Bernie dishes? Bernie burgers" with smothered onions, fried chicken, and lima beans. I’m a sucker for anything avocado.  Guacamole is a must every time I step foot in a Mexican restaurant.  A half of an avocado finds it’s way on my breakfast plate on most days (avocado and eggs! Try it).  They are definitely a staple on my grocery list. . Admittedly, its because I love the flavor and texture…but the fact that avocadoes are so healthy for you. Doesn’t hurt. . The newest addition is The Sprouted Kitchen cookbook. 8230;from the blog of the same name. 160; And I am LOVING it! 160; Fresh ingredients, whole foods, delicious recipes…right up my alley. You may have also noticed, I don't buy salad dressing from the store…ever…I always make my own. It's so easy! Olive oil, balsamic vinegar, garlic, salt and pepper. Canola oil and peanut/sesame oil, rice wine vinegar, honey, salt or soy sauce, cilantro, ginger. Lime juice, canola oil, cumin, cilantro, salt and pepper. 8230;one of my FAVES!

What I Eat - Part 1. My diet is an evolving thing.constantly changing as my life changes and as I learn more and more about nutrition. I have always been a healthy eater, thanks to my mom. She didn't keep candy or cookies in the house. Ice cream was only bought if it was going with our dessert that night (think pie a la mode). We weren't allowed to drink soft drinks on a daily basis.and neither did she which I'm also thankful for. Maybe I did too? So thankful for her and the 23 years I had with her.
