TartanShamrock News

The Wallace family journal. Thursday, 26 June 2014. Milestones for Angus and Sean. Seems to be Sean's motto at the moment. Links to this post. Wednesday, 1 January 2014. We had a lazy morning, a light lunch and then headed to the Patersons along with the Fletchers, Alison and Phoebe and one or two others, for a pleasant late afternoon of chat and good food served up by Wendy while the boys played out of sight and almost out of earshot. Welcome to 2014, the year when our building work will be finished!

TartanShamrock News: Christmas in the new space

http://tartanshamrock.blogspot.com/2013/12/christmas-in-new-space.html

The Wallace family journal. Wednesday, 25 December 2013. Christmas in the new space. Exclaimed Finn), soap-making kit, pens, stencils and various books as well as a food flask. Sean too got a food flask and, like Finn, a Skylanders pyjama top as well as other tops, a Fairmile Scout hoodie, gymnastics leotard and trousers, Guinness Book of Records, a much-requested battery charger, a watch and other books and odds and ends. No Lego for anyone this year! Our life writ large. Changing the TS Playlist.

TartanShamrock News: Last shout for AB/CD

http://tartanshamrock.blogspot.com/2013/12/last-shout-for-abcd.html

The Wallace family journal. Monday, 30 December 2013. Last shout for AB/CD. I took Paul on the scenic route back through Paisley and Glenburn, up to Barrhead and then via Hurlet and Clarkston before he took over the directions to get us back to his house. The rest of the Lasts went through to Edinburgh to stay over at our house - I think Paul and I got the best of the deal! To get the last train back to Paisley after a gig! Our life writ large. TartanShamrock News: Milestones for Angus and Sean

http://tartanshamrock.blogspot.com/2014/06/milestones-for-angus-and-sean.html

The Wallace family journal. Thursday, 26 June 2014. Milestones for Angus and Sean. Seems to be Sean's motto at the moment. Our life writ large. This journal remains a log of Wallace family life, mundane and repetitive as that may be, and will hopefully be an interesting archive for our children to refer to and contribute to as they grow older. Something Tasty: January 2008

http://tartanshamrockfood.blogspot.com/2008_01_01_archive.html

The Wallace family recipe book. Tuesday, 29 January 2008. Do you keep a cow? We seem to be approaching something of a milk crisis in our house. Every second day breakfast can be a fraught affair as the last drops of milk are shared out between the cereal bowls. Why do we never have enough milk in? And replacing them with one or two pints of fresh, creamy, silver-foil capped milk in its distinctive glass bottles. Of an evening there would be a knock at the door as someone came to collect the weekly "m...

Something Tasty: Gluten-free suppliers

http://tartanshamrockfood.blogspot.com/2009/09/gluten-free-suppliers.html

The Wallace family recipe book. Wednesday, 9 September 2009. If I'm going to list prescription suppliers then I may as well list non-prescription suppliers of gluten-free foods too. Very good for GF porrige oats. An excellent variety of GF beers of all sorts of strengths. I was a frequent orderer at first but I think my taste for beer, and tolerance of alcohol in general, has taken a nosedive. Debbie and Andrews Harrogate sausages. A great sausage, plain and simple. Look out for them in Morrisons.

Something Tasty: March 2008

http://tartanshamrockfood.blogspot.com/2008_03_01_archive.html

The Wallace family recipe book. Monday, 31 March 2008. If you are cooking for me. When eating out or eating unlabelled food there are two aspects to establishing whether or not the food is safe for a coeliac to eat. One aspect is to ask the question "is this gluten-free? Of the server. The other, trickier, aspect is whether or not you trust the answer, especially when it is "yes". The primary sources of gluten: grains and flours of:. Things to look out for. Barley malt extract, modified wheat starch, pro...

Something Tasty: August 2008

http://tartanshamrockfood.blogspot.com/2008_08_01_archive.html

The Wallace family recipe book. Saturday, 9 August 2008. Pork Belly and Aubergine in a Tamarind Curry. Sharon and the boys are in Ireland this week so I've been fending for myself. I'm no stranger to doing that but Sharon had taken all the good curry cookbooks with her so I had to trawl the web to find a variation on the Sri Lankan pork belly and tamarind curry that she recently cooked from the fabulous Australian Women's Weekly New Curries cookbook. That has set my stomach rumbling. 2 garlic cloves, cho...

Something Tasty: January 2009

http://tartanshamrockfood.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html

The Wallace family recipe book. Friday, 16 January 2009. Since the New Year I've definitely felt a change for the worse. The bloated, bagged-up feeling that I used to have before being diagnosed seems to have made a return. The two main changes to diet I can think of are:. I'm now eating loaves made with the Juvela fibre mix - could the gluten-free wheat starch (within the Codex limit) be a cause? Anyway, the article above noted that. As it happened, later in the afternoon I decided to have a chocolate b...

Something Tasty: December 2007

http://tartanshamrockfood.blogspot.com/2007_12_01_archive.html

The Wallace family recipe book. Tuesday, 18 December 2007. Fish with Green Papaya Salad. Papaya is now available in greengrocers and supermarkets although I'm not sure how you can tell if the flesh is going to be ripe and orange or unripe and green when you open it, other than by pressing the papaya and hoping for the best. If you can't get green papaya then use a Granny Smith's apple, as its tartness is equally fresh. The dressing for this salad is lively! Makes the fine slicing and julienning. 1 lb (45...

TartanShamrock - Welcome to Our World

The Wallace family website. Welcome To Our World. Are Ian, Sharon, Sean, Finn, Rowan and Angus Wallace, a Scots-Irish family living in Edinburgh leading hugely uninteresting lives that we thought like-minded individuals would love to share! Ian's sporadic ramblings on food and some recipes are on a relatively unexciting food blog called Something Tasty.
