As our contractor and his team work on the punch list, the landscaping is beginning to take shape. I am so impressed by the progress that Michael Ward and Sons have made in less than a week. Our Camano House - Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow. Building a new home on Camano Island, WA. Sunday, January 15, 2012. Winter at the Beach. When we first looked at the Camano house thirteen years ago, Suzanne, the owner, mentioned that she enjoyed winter best of all the seasons. I'm now beginning to see why she did. The sun has moved far to the south, coursing along the ridge and saying goodby each day around 3:30. Most noticeable is that many of our neighbors have departed for the winter, many seeking w...

Our Camano House - Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow. Building a new home on Camano Island, WA. Sunday, November 28, 2010. What originally started as a 'paint sample party', quickly turned into a brief visit to photograph the progress and skedaddle! Although it was Sunday, the painters were hard at work, getting ready to prime the interior tomorrow; while Gary was working on the exterior siding. They had fallen behind due to our early winter storm last week and were doing some catch-up. Links to this post.

Our Camano House - Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow. Building a new home on Camano Island, WA. Tuesday, June 5, 2012. The garden after one (very rainy) year. It's hard to imagine that we began planting the beds just one year ago. They have certainly filled in well. The pictures above show things as they were in 2011. And the pictures below show them as they are today. Our parsley has been so prolific this year. I have to clear the path with a weed whacker! Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Our Camano House - Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow. Building a new home on Camano Island, WA. Tuesday, November 29, 2011. Having left the chilly Seattle house under the watch of Maki and Jeff, I headed to the beach to enjoy a little warmth (oh, did I mention we're having furnace problems in Seattle? The tide taking it away. Interesting that over the many months that it was out front, the roots just went away. Or were they scavenged by our daughter? Happy to report that the Thanksgiving leftovers are gone.

Our Camano House - Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow. Building a new home on Camano Island, WA. Monday, August 22, 2011. Musings on a rainy afternoon at the beach. Jeff just pointed out that the rain is doing a good job removing some of the bird droppings from our many large windows! I've taken a break from the blog, focusing on personal matters; but I'm now back, and am thinking about a new direction for the posts, since the house is 99% complete. I'd love your ideas and suggestions. Links to this post.

Our Camano House - Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow. Building a new home on Camano Island, WA. Tuesday, June 28, 2011. The Hidden Benefits of a New Landscape. If you're an avid gardener like me, there's nothing finer than creating a new garden. We were lucky to find a terrific landscaper in Michael Ward. (Many thanks, Beeray! These natives look right at home in their new digs! Which brings me to the point of this post. Everyday, as I water and set plants in place, I meet my neighbors! Our neighbor Beth is ...

Our Camano House - Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow. Building a new home on Camano Island, WA. Tuesday, October 26, 2010. Cabinets, Mantels, and Sound, Oh My! Today Jeff and I met Jim at the house to decide on two things: configuration of the built-ins, and there are a lot, (. in every room except the bedrooms)! Rest assured, Jeff is working to remedy that! We also had to decide, once and for all, about audio and security. It has been nagging us for weeks; and we're finally done! Links to this post.
