Jellied eels. london, england. 8212; Kevin @ 09:56. My goal for the rest of the week was to get to the markets around Tower Bridge, or perhaps some little café that could have served the London trademark (eaten mainly by the poor) since the 18. Century. My sister currently residing in London did not see the intrigue and possible delights that consuming jellied eels might provide, but she went along for the journey to M Manze, located in Peckham. So On to bigger and tastier things. 1 Comment ». You are co...

And so it begins…. 8212; Kevin @ 21:04. Welcome to a new blog created by your elusive foodie-in-training, Kevin. I shall be putting my first entry here in about a week or shortly thereafter. At the present time I’m not sure what I’ll be feasting upon in the great beyond, but let it be known that it shall undoubtedly be divine! Or a bit disgusting. Leave a Comment ». 8212; Kevin @ 14:58. It’s been forever and a day since my latest gustatory adventure. A commenter from the last post told me my true passion lies with alcohol. In response to this, I will create an entry involving such. I might like everything I try. It took some time for me to enjoy a few of the many Turkish drinks out there. I’m going to make this a two-parter: one entry for the booze, and one for the non-alcoholic beverages. I might as well add more space onto this almost-empty blog.

Çiğ köfte, istanbul, türkiye. 8212; Kevin @ 10:54. My digital watch flickers neon at a random place in time after midnight. There has been a copious amount of alcohol consumed no matter what type. Anything scotch- or Guinness-related sits at the top of the totem pole. The amount varies depending on prior dinnertime expenditures and the number of pints or shots already down the hatch. We were starving; it was late; we needed something to occupy the time for a tiny bit longer. The flavors last, and bite af...

8212; Kevin @ 18:47. I had never heard of this liquor before setting my feet on Turkish soil, but its brethren are pretty well known round the world, at least the Greek variation. Ouzo is the drink of Alexander and his minions; in Italy it’s Sambuca. There’s also an Arabic version my girlfriend tells me is called arak. Plus others. But I shall keep with rakı, the Turkish drink. Or ‘lion’s milk’. It’s the national drink here in Turkey, and it is quite infamous for many reasons. And sip the raki. Compa...

Poem #21 | He Writes and Other Things.
https://krisner.wordpress.com/2015/04/21/poem-21
He Writes and Other Things. Poem #22 →. April 21, 2015. Open the door a crack and allow the gusts to pin. Against the wall each moment that lets me. Push ceilings and step down onto mud. To create shapes, bowls the ceramics student. Each revolution a day or two, time cut. With machete or similar knife. The thing I wield with one hand only. And cut in half each pillar of virtue. Paid for by weather fronts blasted by. Casing arms punching through. Every evening burning yellows and blues. Poem #22 →. Well, ...

He Writes and Other Things. Poem #30 →. April 29, 2015. Feet slamming on concrete. Once was brick formed by molds. Each step has its own shape. Each emotion a hue. Each life forged with patience. Ready to create fire. From nothing for someone. Heart will glow after chants. Shapes a narrative path. Breathe in and step to beats. Keep on the patterned hum. Of tires on brick, old school. We return to walking. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Address never made public). Poem #30 →.

He Writes and Other Things. April 30, 2015. I watch parades on the sidelines, people walking with rainbow-painted faces, raising banners, drumlines and bagpipes, endless drone of some centuries-old dirge smothered by radio screaming pop songs, the age range of child holding candy to grandmother walking poodle and an American flag on her wide-brimmed hat, sunglasses required, whistles to let people by, cars waiting patiently for the throng to pass. He Writes and Other Things. Poem #25 →. April 24, 2015. There is something to be said for fake flowers. That stand and reach tall in my thin glass vase. No water needed to keep death at bay. For another extra week / No withered. Petals that release the fumes of decay. Or discoloration of water or. Leaves / Only bright and unnatural hues. And the texture of paper not fine silk. https://krisner.wordpress.com/2015/04/22/poem-22
He Writes and Other Things. Poem #23 →. April 22, 2015. Rolling hills as far as I can squint. To find that pencil-thin horizon,. The glint from sunlight and soon sunset. To give us tranquility fervently embracing. Our march to save our one and only home, yes, every year. I paint myself green for one day,. With dripping leftovers covering those hills. A coat of fresh environmentalism because, beneath. This fairway brightness, we house polystyrene. Popcorn, boxes, takeout containers, plastic bottles,.

He Writes and Other Things. Poem #24 →. April 23, 2015. Time, essence, vaporous in life and death,. Allows many legged larvae to welcome. In spring, steps in hollow trunks and reseeds. Moss spills across the leveled log in spots,. A paint coat over rivulets of harsh. Winter filaments that chisel and etch. Names and hearts bind, fuse all these cylinders. In some handgrip that flashes a mirage,. That each log’s world is a precious cargo. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Poem #24 →.
Poem #25 | He Writes and Other Things.
https://krisner.wordpress.com/2015/04/25/poem-25
He Writes and Other Things. Poem #26 →. April 25, 2015. A snake swerves along the ground. Painting its skin with dust. The chalk of nature bleaching scales. Every rustle through the dried grass. Perks up ears and sets vermin aflight. Each flicker of the tongue. A black flash — a tarry sheen. Not unlike searing summer sun. At noon when all life itches to eat. Some rare nourishment from gods. The snake licks the earth to hear. Not to sample the powder and the lime. But to find each patter and scuttle.
