tasting out loud: Twas ever thus...

http://www.tastingoutloud.com/2013/09/twas-ever-thus.html

I Cooked for Sanity. Wednesday, September 11, 2013. Only children have it rough. They are the sole focus of a parent's attention from the moment of their first indrawn breath - from the first moment a parent is aware of their existence actually. Now, rather than staring at the crib to see the small movements that mark a baby's shallow breathing, I focus on my own. Deep breath and the knot in the pit of my stomach. Rather than hers? Something I am once again not used to doing. Throughout this past gap year.

http://www.tastingoutloud.com/2012/05/rhubarb-cake-sometimes-blind-chicken.html

I Cooked for Sanity. Thursday, May 10, 2012. Rhubarb Cake: Sometimes a blind chicken. Late last summer, I bought a rhubarb plant at the flea market. I have no idea what variety it was - I picked it up on a whim. I've tried to plant rhubarb before, with no luck. By no luck, I mean absolutely no luck. During an early spring survey of my garden, I noticed this new plant, that seemed to be flourishing stuck there between two yews. I knew it was beautiful, knew it was doing well, and from the looks of the...

WEG Central Blog: What a day...

http://wegcentralblog.blogspot.com/2010/10/what-day.html

Blogging and slogging through the World Equestrian Sports and competitions. Monday, October 4, 2010. Fans everywhere. So many nationalities. So much enthusiasm mixed with a healthy dose of national pride. It's very late and I'm falling asleep. My philosophy about eventing has always been pretty simple: if you're still in the saddle on sunday afternoon, it's been a pretty good weekend. The Brits and Germans, Kiwis, and Canuks have had a pretty good weekend! Just who is watching whom? New On Eventing Day.

Blogging and slogging through the World Equestrian Sports and competitions. Thursday, February 3, 2011. And my typing fingers (that would be all ten as I think I still have a full count) are sore from typing and typing. In recent days, I've launched a new web project called Eventing Day. Actually I've launched two sites. One for Eventing only info, pictures, videos and audio and the other called The Eventing Day Starting Box. So I type and type. I try not to forget about my other sites, all of which ...

Blogging and slogging through the World Equestrian Sports and competitions. Friday, October 8, 2010. The Bluegrass is Kind of Brown . It was pretty brown out there. (Nan Rawlins/Equ image. I've been enjoying the Driving competition - the competition but not the grass. It's too bad there's been so little rain in this part of the USA. The beautiful region of Kentucky known as The Bluegrass. Is not very blue, or green for that matter. The grass is kind of yellow, brittle, and - well - almost dead. 169;Nan R...

Blogging and slogging through the World Equestrian Sports and competitions. Sunday, October 3, 2010. It's 5am on Eventing Sunday. It's always tough to sleep when I'm working a competition. Exhaustion to the point of not being able to sleep keeps me from sleeping so why bother to try? It's always been this way. If I take something to help me sleep then I'm too groggy to work the next morning. So again, why try? Just work tired - that's my motto. Like to push in the water myself. They try not to? Tasting our way | A toast to food, travel and life

A toast to food, travel and life. A taste of château life in the Loire Valley. April 15, 2015. Ben and I spent our first long weekend of spring in the Loire Valley. It’s one of those places that make people’s eyes light up when you talk about it. We’d never been, and decided what could be better than welcoming spring with a visit to castle country. The Loire Valley is one of several places in the world with an abundance of troglodyte houses carved into the stone in the hillside. April 2, 2015. The number...

Tasting Palm Oil | Annie's 2011 summer in Ghana

Annie's 2011 summer in Ghana. Auntie Ajuwa, This is for You. August 11, 2011 in Thoughts and Scribbles. I woke up this morning around six. Like always, I was awakened by noises in the yard. I sat up; rays of sunlight peeked through the cracks in my door. The amount of commotion seemed more than usual. Curious, I got up and opened the door. At the sight of half of the community gathered in the yard and my host mother with tears streaming down her face, I knew. Showing so much, ah! You have done well!
