Tasting Serendipity

A blog about the tasty surprises in life. Thursday, July 15, 2010. We followed a version of this and used Jack Daniel's BBQ sauce because it is Vince's favorite, and we were too tired to come up with our own creative version. The verdict: Really tender ribs, so the method worked, but the BBQ sauce didn't do jack for the ribs. We ended up with a one-note flavor that got to be too much by the end. Thank goodness for bogo. We will certainly try again (with our own sauce of course! Links to this post. PS I w...

Tasting Serendipity: August 2009

http://tastingserendipity.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html

A blog about the tasty surprises in life. Monday, August 31, 2009. I'm dreaming of a Miami Christmas. Kids start their sugar rush early with candy canes for breakfast. Visitors start coming by with last minute gifts and cookie trays loaded with goodies. If the lechon is at your house, the anxiety begins will it be ready? Did you add enough salt? Maybe you should have pealed a few more bulbs of garlic? I know its only August but on a balmy day like to day, I can't help dreaming. Links to this post. I grew...

Tasting Serendipity: Caprese Salad

http://tastingserendipity.blogspot.com/2010/06/caprese-salad.html

A blog about the tasty surprises in life. Tuesday, June 29, 2010. This weekend we got lucky with a happy coincidence. Harris Teeter had a sale on the Perlini Mozzarella and hot house tomatoes, and Chris' basil was running wild. The result? Only the best caprese salad I've had this side of the Atlantic! OK, so maybe it wasn't the best, but it was pretty good. We ate it while we watched the U.S.A. soccer heart breaker, but at least our taste buds were happy. 2 ripe hot house tomatoes diced. And, were back!

Tasting Serendipity: Chicken Pot-pie Recipe

http://tastingserendipity.blogspot.com/2010/06/chicken-pot-pie-recipe.html

A blog about the tasty surprises in life. Wednesday, June 16, 2010. Every now and then I fiddle around with a recipe and it comes out GREAT! Then, I forget to write it down and can never recreate it again. Last night could have been one of those nights. I made a chicken pot-pie that was so delicious that Vince and Chris declared it was the best they ever had. So in the efforts of helping my fragile memory remember here it is:. 2 large chicken breasts. 2 tbsp. olive oil. 1/4 cup butter (salted). Nope I do...

Window to the World: A Photo Blog. Capturing the world one picture at a time. Thursday, May 19, 2011. The Key to a Slow Tempo. Is utter natural beauty. Please excuse the pun, I couldn't resist. My friends and I recently went boating in Key Largo, and I was able to capture a few really neat shots. The downside of this adventure, of course, was my intense sunburnt back that resulted. But such are the breaks in paradise. Camera: Canon SX 200IS. Location: Key Largo, FL. Date: May 7, 2011. 191;QUÉ PASA, MIAMI?

Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Yumminess. Wednesday, February 10, 2010. OK, I just wrote a big long post about how we have been snowed in.and then blogger ate it. I think blogger ate it to get back at me for not posting for the past six months, so I have decided to just accept my punishment, instead of tempting further retribution by trying to recreate the clever things I said before. Otter digging a snow cave on his 1st birthday (Feb. 6th). Bret tossing snowballs for the pups. Elsa enjoying the cold.

http://bretandjaimy.blogspot.com/2011/05/where-to-begin.html

Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Yumminess. Friday, May 27, 2011. Seriously. I don't know where to begin with this post, in which I plan to introduce you to our new home and summarize our first SIX WEEKS of homeownership. And in doing so, I should tell you that the most common thought that we had in our first days and weeks as a homeowner was "Where do we BEGIN? So, only fitting…. After everyone got the tour and left, Bret and I commenced our first DIY project: removing the master bedroom carpet.

Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Yumminess. Saturday, March 5, 2011. Ummmm Babe. We're buying a HOUSE.". As I am sure that anyone who has ever bought a house - particularly a not-exactly-new house - already knows, there is a dip in excitement in the homebuyer timeline between having a ratified contract and, well, having a ratified contract that takes into account all of the little things that the home inspector pointed out. Things that make the Perfect House seem a little bit less Perfect. And oh so much...
