Vanilla Malted Ice Cream Cake. 1 12-ounce store-bought angel food cake. 1 1/2 cups cold heavy cream. 1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons malted milk powder. 1 1/2 quarts vanilla ice cream, softened. White sprinkles, for topping (optional). Trim the brown crust off the top, bottom and sides of the angel food cake using a serrated knife. Thinly slice the cake. If you plan to use frozen peaches or firmer, out-of-season fruit, increase the amount of sugar from 2/3 cup to 3/4 cup. Prep Time: 10 minutes. Cook Time: 10 minutes. Total Time: 1 hour, 20 minutes. 2/3 cup of sugar. 1 cup of water. 2 1/2 lbs ripe peaches, peeled, halved and pitted. 3 tablespoons lemon juice. 1/2 teaspoon fresh lemon zest.
