The Really Good Life: September 2010
http://thereallygoodlife.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html
The Really Good Life. Thursday, 16 September 2010. It's been an awful long, long time since I last updated (I feel really embarrassed for blaming others for the same thing.) and I don't know if my blog is closed down or not. There are no promises, but since I'm now back where it all started (that is York) I might give it a go and see if I can keep it up to date! Keep an eye on this space if you're interested in seeing if I can put aside my habit of procrastinating and actually get things done this year!

House-Dust: April 2008
http://house-dust.blogspot.com/2008_04_01_archive.html
Lot's of little things make one big thing. Monday, 28 April 2008. After the snow leaves and cabin fevers subside, it's nice to get outside and breathe. Apart from the running I do during the spring, I tend to take walks in the afternoon when the sun blinds your eyes. But I like that feeling- to be surrounded by light. Spring in the UK can be lovely. In reading John Keats, I've come across some real chestnuts; but none as aesthetically dignified as his sonnet When I Have Fears. A good poem can open up new...

MAPS: Reading After Graduating
http://ryanisreading.blogspot.com/2009/10/reading-after-graduating.html
After all, isn't the point of a B.A. to prepare a person for a job and, more particularly, for a salaried position. When I get going on this line of thought, I can begin to feel overwhelmed and a bit depressed: "What am I supposed to do with all these books on my shelves? Am I just supposed to use my diploma to wrap up Big Macs at the drive-thru window? Next up: academic theory/practice, more books, and opining for graduate school. Posted by Ryan Weberling. The Really Good Life: October 2009
http://thereallygoodlife.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html
The Really Good Life. Thursday, 22 October 2009. The weekend 15-20 October I had visitors from Norway; my mum and my aunt. I met them in London for a couple of days in that wonderful city and to take them with me back to Warminster. In London we found time to visit St Paul's Cathedral and I finally got to see the Wall of Whispers. It was fascinating! It's nice to show them where I live and what my life is like over here. They're more than welcome to come visit again! Thursday, 15 October 2009. In additio...

The Really Good Life: Haworth - The Brönte Sisters' Home
http://thereallygoodlife.blogspot.com/2011/04/haworth-bronte-sisters-home.html
The Really Good Life. Wednesday, 27 April 2011. Haworth - The Brönte Sisters' Home. The International Society at YSJ still organises trips to different attractions around York, and in March I signed up for a trip to Haworth to see the Brönte sisters' home. Ahmed, Lauren and Lindsey came along too, and we had a really great day! We had a stop in Bradford on the way to see the National Media Museum. It was interesting to drive through Bradford because it is such a different type of city! I recently finishe...

The Really Good Life: October 2010
http://thereallygoodlife.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html
The Really Good Life. Friday, 22 October 2010. In a new York state of mind. Still no exams, just essays, but oh dear. This time I'm actually studying! The subjects are very interesting, but I kind of miss my former relaxing life! No procrastination around here anymore. (not completely true, but there shouldn't be at least) A thing that could have made it better would being muffins and chocolate cakes, but in stead I've started going to the gym. Have a nice weekend everyone! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

The Really Good Life: Sinning on a Sunday
http://thereallygoodlife.blogspot.com/2012/01/sinning-on-sunday.html
The Really Good Life. Sunday, 29 January 2012. Sinning on a Sunday. Today I've broken the unwritten rule of not working on a Sunday. Baking isn't too bad, but changing the bed on a Sunday just isn't appropriate. At least I didn't put the wash on! Aldri så gale at det ikkje er godt for noko" - after the baking session I got to have lunch with a friend. Freshly home-baked bread is delicious! Og eg let meg jo aldeles fasinere av mjølk i plastkanne. Sukk - det var tider! 10 February 2012 at 23:23. And to be ...

The End (of the Beginning? Well, instead of writing some of my last 50 or 60 pages in college (due in less than a week), I thought I'd take this chance to make a little blog post. I spent most of last night (until dawn) combing through a handful of books and articles related to the theme of everyday life, cooking, neighborhoods, politics (Lefebvre and Situationist International? MAPS: Today's Book Trade
http://ryanisreading.blogspot.com/2009/08/book-trade.html
Well, in searching through my pyramid of boxes of books, I amassed a whole separate box of duplicates (3 copies of Walden. 3 copies of A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man. And a strangely neon and pink edition of Hannah Arendt's On Violence. Also, I had both Thomas Pynchon's Vineland. Weighed against a potentially fascinating piece of agricultural travelogue by the USDA's chief soil conservationist in the 1900s entitled Farmers of Forty Centuries. And a few other choice selections.
