Our first stop was a fairly comprehensive jade shop; the prices were terrible or maybe I am too cheap. This stop was 2 kilometers passed the road to Cassiar, BC. Cassiar was the mining town that Marg lived in from 1953 to June off 1958. We heard the road was blocked off. Surprise! A modern wagon train heads to the Yukon and Alaska to strike it rich! Saturday, August 1, 2009. Saturday night and we are just south of Prince George. Two more sleeps and we are home. For the last 5 days we have been in the heat with more to come in Kelowna- 36 C on my computer weather station. We are on a fenced platform that can accommodate several hundred people and camera- huge lenses like canons, and tripods. The usual eagle showed up to wait for scraps. August 4, 2009 at 8:22 AM.

The blue building is the one Jean and Norm used to spend their quarters on movies- the Rec Centre with a caved in roof. The tailings pile is huge, the mill looks dismal- a shell of its former self when in production, the tram line is gone, no buckets to be seen, no houses in the main part of town, only the circle road and a messy scrap yard as someone is trying to recycle metal.
