Behind that in the farther distance with a little patch of snow on it is Max Patch. For a moment I had to pinch myself; but soon I realized I was still at my desk and not on Mount Cammerer. The brilliant gold of the hickory leaves against the clear Carolina blue sky this time of year is about one of the most beautiful things I have seen.
