Dear Friend: January 2010
http://mp-dearfriends.blogspot.com/2010_01_01_archive.html
Stories for you about my life in Africa. Thursday, January 21, 2010. Adventures in South Africa: March of the Buffalo. It's always a game of chance when you drive through a game park looking for animals, like we did in Addo Elephant Park in South Africa. You might be in a park full of animals but see absolutely nothing. Or you might see everything. It just depends on who's out and about that day. When there's no fences, you never know who you're going to run into on the road, either. After finally losing...

But I didn't come to Africa because of the need. That's right. I didn't come to Africa because of the need. Or because I love the people. Or because I think I have something to teach or to give to them. Thanks, Mary. I can reall...

Dear Friend: July 2009
http://mp-dearfriends.blogspot.com/2009_07_01_archive.html
Stories for you about my life in Africa. Friday, July 10, 2009. The little girls in my neighborhood like to play a game they call “Lunga-lunga”, which is a more complex version of hopscotch. Since it is rainy season now, they can draw the lines in the wet ground better than in dry season. There's usually at least two “Lunga-lunga” games drawn out on the path to my house. I couldn't quite get the rules down as I watched them play, but they were sure having fun. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Thoughts as I travel through this life as a missionary in Japan. Thursday, February 26, 2015. I remember as a child knowing lent had started by the school lunch menu. Every Friday during lent the school served fish for lunch. Growing up in a baptist church, I don't remember doing much with Ash Wednesday or lent. I remember some kids from other church backgrounds gave up things like bubble gum or candy bars. I never really understood the giving something up idea. As I have progressed (I hope! As I have wo...
