http://alwaysaband.blogspot.com/2005/11/problem-with-our-schools.html
Thursday, November 03, 2005. The Problem With Our Schools. Disclaimer: I really do love and appreciate our. Especially our teachers. My kids have received and are still receiving an excellent education. This post deals instead with our Euphorian, 21st century, don't compete, "everybody wins, play musical chairs with a more seats than children so they all get one and nobody loses" culture. It was wrinkled, shoved into a folder with some other junk, and simply said, "participant.". My son thought it would ...

I Always Believe There's a Band, Kid: Black Helicopters
http://alwaysaband.blogspot.com/2005/05/black-helicopters.html
Friday, May 20, 2005. Stupid little things I do, just because I'm a moron. I'm dropping of a check on behalf of my. For his application fee at the local college. The lady behind the desk says, "You don't happen to know his social security number, do you? So I rattle off, "Three Two Six-Nine Four-Three Eight Two Seven.". She seems kind of impressed, so after a pause, I do a very bad. At this point she gets a strange look on her face, and starts feeling under her desk for the. You know, I once offered to b...

I Always Believe There's a Band, Kid: Things I Do Because I'm a Moron XI
http://alwaysaband.blogspot.com/2014/10/things-i-do-because-im-moron-xi.html
Tuesday, October 14, 2014. Things I Do Because I'm a Moron XI. So I'm in a nice hotel, lying on a nice bed with nice white sheets. I had stopped at the nice little shop downstairs and picked up a nice bag of trail mix, complete with nice little bits of chocolate. I proceeded to eat said trail mix on the nice bed with the nice white sheets. Later, a coworker asked me, "How do you know she even spoke English? In hindsight, I probably should have said, "Esto no es caca. Honesto! Gancio appendiabiti uomo e D...

I Always Believe There's a Band, Kid: Hawaii: A Brief, Hearing-impaired History
http://alwaysaband.blogspot.com/2013/04/hawaii-brief-hearing-impaired-history.html
Saturday, April 27, 2013. Hawaii: A Brief, Hearing-impaired History. First of all, the Old Lahaina Luau. We would recommend it to anyone. The guys came out and dug up a few pigs for us to eat. And the rest of the food was awesome. The band was pretty good too. And the Hula presentation was terrific, I think. The problem, as my long-suffering family never hesitates to point out, is that decades of playing loud rock and roll, with my left ear facing an amp that goes to eleven. But then the two sisters made...

The studio execs, wanting to maximize the two-hour turnover in theaters, insist that the movie come in under the 120 mark. No problem, says editor Marcia Lucas, and six minutes of. Fall mercilessly to the cutting room floor. The studio is satisfied, and the film is actually improved by the editing. It was fun to see. At 150 m...

I Always Believe There's a Band, Kid: Another Time, Another Place
http://alwaysaband.blogspot.com/2005/06/another-time-another-place.html
Thursday, June 02, 2005. Another Time, Another Place. Now that the initial euphoria has worn off, I guess I'm ready to post some random thoughts on Episode III. I've noticed that most folks seem to really like the film when they first walk out of the theater. Then, almost like eating Chinese food, an hour or two later they say, "Wait a minute.". That has been my experience as well. As soon as it was over, I turned to. Anyway, he looked at me, much the way a potato would, and said, "What? 2 I still don't ...

I Always Believe There's a Band, Kid: Final Hawaii Post? For Now...
http://alwaysaband.blogspot.com/2013/05/final-hawaii-post-for-now.html
Thursday, May 02, 2013. Some random thoughts, and pics that we didn't use yet. Or were mixed in with a bunch of Facebook posts, and are requesting their own attention, here.). The guy on the right seems to know that she doesn't stand a chance of sinking that carrier. Neither does he. Get off the boat, Moron. People were wearing their sunglasses, just to walk past my legs. Restaurant Menu on an iPad. Nerdvana. The Blond made a couple new friends at the Luau. She was so much better at it that I was. 100 in...

I Always Believe There's a Band, Kid: Remember
http://alwaysaband.blogspot.com/2013/04/remember_23.html
Tuesday, April 23, 2013. Yesterday, the not-actually-a-colonel fullfilled a lifelong dream. He and the Blond visited Pearl Harbor and the USS Arizona Memorial. The USS Stennis, a Nimitz-class supercarrier, was also in port, directly across from the memorial. I cannot begin to describe how awesome one of those vessels is when viewed up close. But the ship itself was secondary to what we witnessed from her crew this sunny, Sunday morning. Then he explained. "My son is on that ship.". What does he do? From ...

Monday, July 17, 2006. BBQ/Bonfire at the McCormack's.
