It didn't help that I wasn't feeling all that great, because I kept waking up cold the night before. So, I went downstairs to get breakfast for the kids, and Youngest ran to the window. Feb 22, 2011. So, remember last December when my knee gave out. While I was in another country? Well, after multiple visits to the doctor's office, an x-ray, and an MRI, it turns out that physical therapy isn't going to cut it. There is a layer of soft tissue between the cartilage, called meniscus, and mine is torn. According to my doctor, I have two choices: I can get surgery to fix it, or I can leave it as-is. Aug 25, 2011. Air and Water Show 2011. Last weekend was the Chicago Air and Water show. Like usual, they do their show on North Beach but fly north and south to turn around. And they turn around right over our house. We've really enjoyed it these past fiew years, and this year we were afraid there wasn't going to be a show. It. Sep 26, 2012. I earned my green belt last week! It was a long test, three hours with only a few seconds here and there for water. So it was pretty much non-stop. And all my Senpai (teachers and partners) pushed me pretty dang hard. I was exhausted at the end, but I had my green belt so I was very happy. Here are some pictures from the test. Enjoy! Jun 27, 2012. Spirit Challenge week at my dojo, Thousand Waves. Has come and gone. And I'm happy to say that they exceeded their fundraising goal! Which means that they can keep doing all their violence prevention programs. Woohoo! For me, Spirit Challenge week was quite challenging! Instead of regular class, we did fitness challenges. I just earned my advanced yellow belt, and this weekend my kids will test for their green belts. We're all really excited! Our dojo is called Thousand Waves. And it's amazing. Aug 17, 2011. I made a birthday cake over the weekend for a good friends' son. It's kind of become tradition, since I've been doing this for the past four years. :) Anyway, this year he wanted something with the Chicago Cubs on it, so this is what I came up with. Aug 9, 2011. Back in April, I joined a dojo in my neighborhood. I've always wanted to learn a martial art, ever since I was a kid. But it never worked out, and as I got older it was easy to shrug it off. Then I had to have knee surgery. A few weeks ago, my teachers asked me to test for my blue belt! Wednesday, February 29, 2012. The end of February (WIP Wednesday Week 4). Wow I can't believe it's the end of February. The end of another month. I basically met all of my February goals, minus one. I didn't vlog like I was going to (I thought maybe I would do it today, but turned out I had some personal stuff to take care of instead). Blog three times a week. Re-write my WIP to the mid-story climax. Comment on blogs at least once a day. If you too want to get in on the fun, you only have today to do it!
