Teacherscreech: Time for a career change?

http://teacherscreech.blogspot.com/2009/02/time-for-career-change.html

Rants and musings about dyslexia, learning disabilities and other challenges. Thursday, February 26, 2009. Time for a career change? I love working with kids with reading problems- I have to say it's amazingly rewarding- and I love my work with SelfDesign. but every once in awhile I wonder what it would be like to work in another field not education-related! I get overwhelmed sometimes by the enormity of the systemic problem and at how difficult it is to effect real change. Maybe I could to do both.

Teacherscreech: Nigerian Adventure

http://teacherscreech.blogspot.com/2011/08/nigerian-adventure.html

Rants and musings about dyslexia, learning disabilities and other challenges. Thursday, August 11, 2011. I really hope Kyle's family is ok. This coming year will be difficult, with all the "firsts" they will have to experience without Kyle. I think of them often. I'll recount some of my adventures for a change of pace. My job was to write a teacher's manual and also to develop a Resource Kit that would be placed in schools across three states during this pilot project. We left the city perimeter at 120 k...

Teacherscreech: Sad Good-bye

http://teacherscreech.blogspot.com/2011/06/sad-good-bye.html

Rants and musings about dyslexia, learning disabilities and other challenges. Tuesday, June 7, 2011. The death of a child is unspeakable, and grief is magnified. So, it was amazing to me that so many people found the strength to stand up and talk about Kyle, not just to share their memories, but to share how much their lives were enriched for having known him. Kyle is now free to run, climb, laugh and talk, in a pain-free spirit body. Thank-you Kyle; your brief life on Earth has left it a better place.

I work with children with severe learning disabilities, and I see alarming gaps in the education of these vulnerable students. I find many things in the field of special education "crazy making", and I just need to screech some times! Feel free to join me. Reading instruction over the Internet. IQ discrepancy and LD. A sigh of relief.

A teacher's scribbles where ideas are shared and celebrated...

A teacher in pursue of looking for ways to spice up her classroom activities, so here she goes scribbling here and there. March 7, 2012. A student with a teacher's hat on - part 1. I like to observe other people teach because I know that I could learn from their best (and poor) practices. So yesterday, I took some mental notes of my two teachers and due to my limited brain capacity, I figure that I should write them here. Lets just say that the female teacher is Ana, and the male is Manu). August 4, 2011.

To helping each and every one. No greater love exists. Than that of a teacher for her class. She lovingly pushes and pulls. To make sure each of her students pass. But sometimes the day is long. And sometimes the road is rough. That’s when a teacher teaches herself. To find just patience and strength enough.

What I Want to Read Next. Sunday, August 02, 2015. And it might as well be fall!
