Teaching Children with Autism. Sun, Feb. 10th, 2013, 01:35 pm. Problems with going to bed. My son, 3.3, recently realized that he can easily jump out of his bed, in which he has slept since he was a baby. Nothing helps. He just runs out of his room with an impish laugh. In order for him to go to sleep, I have to lock myself with him in our bedroom. He can go on like an energizer bunny till 12. Am Its been more than two weeks. Teaching Children with Autism. Tue, Dec. 8th, 2009, 08:06 pm. Thu, Dec. 10th, 2009 02:12 am (UTC). Once he had no accidents, we moved the time up to 25 minute intervals, then 30, if he had an accident, back down to 25. I hope that makes sense. He is now completely independent. :).

I want to be a special ed teacher but my life hit a couple bumps in the past few years so my education has been put on hold. While I'm putting my life back together, I'd like to continue learning about the art of teaching. What are some good books to read? What subjects would be good for me to look into?
