Teaching Art in Alabama

Teaching Art in Alabama. Nurturing creativity in the Heart of Dixie. Tuesday, August 26, 2014. I missed blogging last week. I am trying to do once a week. The only reason I am able to post now is because I have a study hall. Between getting fundraisers ready to raise money for a trip to New York and National Art Honor Society invitation letters needing to go out, I am behind. The cover is being prepared for this sketchbook. Edgar Allen Poe in progress, upside-down. We are all about New York here in the a...

Teaching Art in Alabama: March 2013

http://teachingartinalabama.blogspot.com/2013_03_01_archive.html

Teaching Art in Alabama. Nurturing creativity in the Heart of Dixie. Monday, March 25, 2013. I don't know what I was looking for when I ran across the Apex High School Art blog. But I really enjoyed it. It was earlier this semester, when I had just started teaching a new semester course, Digital Image Editing. It is basically the same content as a course some other schools call "Photoshop," but we use the free, open-source equivalent, GIMP. I was thrilled. What a great idea! Posted by Mrs. Bachuss. Teaching Art in Alabama: Back to School!

http://teachingartinalabama.blogspot.com/2014/08/back-to-school.html

Teaching Art in Alabama. Nurturing creativity in the Heart of Dixie. Wednesday, August 6, 2014. Mr Mac and I before ziplining at our faculty retreat. Well, it's almost 2 pm on the day before students arrive, and instead of working on syllabi, I'm dredging up this blog from the depths of neglected social media. I have such good intentions, but so little time! Posted by Mrs. Bachuss. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Getting Into the Routine. NAEA Secondary Art Teachers. Follow me on Twitter.

Teaching Art in Alabama: August 2010

http://teachingartinalabama.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html

Teaching Art in Alabama. Nurturing creativity in the Heart of Dixie. Thursday, August 12, 2010. We had a great inservice. A juggler spoke to us about 'staying unbalanced.' It was a lot of fun - you know, one of those beginning of year pep talks. But this one was amazing to watch. Picture a guy on a six foot unicycle juggling a machete, meat cleaver, and hatchet. Lots of fun. So far, so good. I have lots of names and faces to learn! Posted by Mrs. Bachuss. Links to this post. Sunday, August 1, 2010.

Teaching Art in Alabama: TASK Presentation at AAEA Conference

http://teachingartinalabama.blogspot.com/2013/10/task-presentation-at-aaea-conference.html

Teaching Art in Alabama. Nurturing creativity in the Heart of Dixie. Wednesday, October 16, 2013. TASK Presentation at AAEA Conference. It happens - you start a blog and then you get busy. Not sure what the sculpture is supposed to be. Cows and a tombstone? The presentation is on art parties - and while I mention things like a dirty Santa party at Christmas or our end-of-the-year picnic (complete with watercolor waterguns and tempera Twister), the focus of the presentation is on TASK. Instead of having s...

Astabeth Knits: November 2009

http://astabeth.blogspot.com/2009_11_01_archive.html

The knitting and spinning weblog of a mom, wife, teacher, college student, and ceramic / mixed media artist. Monday, November 30, 2009. We went to Gatlinburg last weekend, and Lorelei got to try out her mittens and hat. I wanted to make her something out of handspun, and she chose a blue/gray combination of some Louet that I had spun and chain plied:. I still need to make some I-cord to keep the mittens together, but she loved them:. Posted by Mrs. Bachuss. Links to this post. Tuesday, November 24, 2009.
