Creative Teaching Displays: Crime Scene Investigation ~ Linked to The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe!

http://www.teachingdisplays.blogspot.com/2014/10/crime-scene-investigation-linked-to.html

Tuesday, 21 October 2014. Crime Scene Investigation Linked to The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe! Linked to our book topic of The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, I created a crime scene investigation themed lesson. I created a carousel in the classroom where the children had to look at five different pieces of evidence which could point to the possible criminal. They had to scrutinise the evidence and decide at the end which character from the novel was the criminal. The children really believed this!

http://www.teachingdisplays.blogspot.com/2014/11/marvellous-maths.html

Monday, 24 November 2014. Here is a photo of my most recent Maths display centred around Place Value and Measure. I have included some things on my display which I will keep on there all year round as they are useful essentials which I will be referring to regularly in my teaching. Others will be taken down and replaced with other things relating to new maths units covered. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Hope you enjoy and feel free to leave your comments! Creative Teaching Displays: June 2013

http://www.teachingdisplays.blogspot.com/2013_06_01_archive.html

Friday, 14 June 2013. To encourage the children to improve their handwriting we hand out pen licences to those who have neat, fluent and joined up handwriting. Here is a photo of my latest handwriting display for those who have received their pen licence recently. In the background, directly onto the window, I painted lines of the alphabet using joined up writing. This set as a nice background to display their certificates. Charlottes Web Enquiry Display. Creative Teaching Displays: The Romans Enquiry Display

http://www.teachingdisplays.blogspot.com/2014/11/the-romans-enquiry-display.html

Monday, 10 November 2014. The Romans Enquiry Display. An old display from my previous school. As a class we studied the Romans. Here is a display themed around the Romans. Again you will see a KWLH grid was used to elicit the children's prior knowledge, find out what they want to know, record what they learnt and record how they did this. A useful tool to use to make your teaching and learning child centred. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Hope you enjoy and feel free to leave your comments!

Creative Teaching Displays: Before and after: New school, new job, new classroom!

http://www.teachingdisplays.blogspot.com/2014/10/before-and-after-new-school-new-job-new.html

Wednesday, 22 October 2014. Before and after: New school, new job, new classroom! This year I have the pleasure of moving to a new school! I have been promoted to Year 5 and 6 Phase Leader as well as Literacy Leader for the whole school. I am now teaching Year 5 again, an age group I love! Someone recently asked me on my blog how my classroom looked at the beginning of the year. I was asked if I put up displays or left them blank. Here are some photos of my classroom when I arrived! I am a Primary School...

USF Teaching Discussion Group | Sharing ideas, questions, camaraderie

USF Teaching Discussion Group. Sharing ideas, questions, camaraderie. Experiencing Failure with New Tech. September 30, 2012. There’s a good deal of talk about productive failure. This past month I had the experience of learning two brand new technologies: Google Hangouts. And Windows Live Movie Maker. In the first case, it worked fairly well almost immediately. There was a very gentle learning curve. I recommend the tool for everyone! In the second, I had to quit the first day I tried the program becaus...

Adventures in Knitting

The ups and downs of knitting and life. Saturday, January 19, 2013. After having this little bundle of joy I've developed an obsession with all knitting for babies. The main obsession I've developed is for baby footwear. No surprise since I'm a shoe lover myself. We all know and love the Saartje's Bootees pattern. They're easy, quick, and so darn cute! I recently came across Baby Cowgirl Booties. I can knit these! I found a couple more patterns for baby booties. The Apple Baby Booties. Links to this post.
