Friday, July 17, 2015. Number Line Clip Art- FREE. I have been enjoying summer, while working on school stuff late at night when my daughter goes to bed. That is the only time I am allowing myself to work on or think about school. I am spending as much time as possible with my little girl. As I was working on my interactive math journal for the year, I wanted some number lines. I was unable to find what I really wanted, so I made some. Do you have any amazing number line activities to share? Problem Prob...

Teaching in an Organized Mess: Plickers
http://teachingwithstowe.blogspot.com/2015/07/plickers.html
Tuesday, July 21, 2015. I was introduced to Plickers this past school year. It is a wonderful assessment tool for the classroom. It is a picture clicker. Instead of passing out clickers to all of the students, they have a something like a QR code that I can scan and record an answer. After a whole group lesson, I would give the students 1-3 questions about the topic and assess where the whole class was. Then I could pull the students who needed more help into small groups. When I was first introduced, I ...

Teaching in an Organized Mess: April 2015
http://teachingwithstowe.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html
Wednesday, April 22, 2015. Quick post here. I am almost ready to come back to blogging. I have 21 days until I graduated from grad school! I am about to have so much time to do other things besides school work! I found this picture from my classroom a few years ago. I wanted an easy way to separate notebooks by class and subject. Colored duct tape. I LOVE all the color and how organized it looks. Remember, my classroom is a bit of an organized mess, so corners like this are rare to find.

http://secondarymathshop.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
The Spectacular World Of Secondary Math. Saturday, March 21, 2015. Branching Out on Social Media. While I am not anti-technology, I usually prefer face to face contact (or at least voice-to-voice on the phone)! That being said, I realize that I live in the year 2015 and that a social media presence is a necessary means by which to communicate. The odd looks I get from my students when I ask what something is, lead me to do some research and get educated on social media! But also on Twitter. Writing probl...

Teaching in an Organized Mess: May 2015
http://teachingwithstowe.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html
Sunday, May 24, 2015. Its the end of the year and everyone is done. We have one week of "real school" left before we enter a week of field days, awards, talent show, etc. While I am dreaming of a summer of book reading, sleeping in, and spending time with my baby, I need to be reminded that I still have students to teach. For 8 days anyways. I came across an old blog post from before I got a teaching job about my teaching philosophy. It starts with this quote:. Ulysses S Grant to Abraham Lincoln. Color M...
