Teaching In a Jar: May 2011
http://teachinginajar.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html
Monday, May 16, 2011. I have been reviewing all week with my kids (last week and today). Today in my Physical Science class, one of my freshmen asked me the strangest question. We were talking about Newton's Third Law of Motion: For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. He raised his hand and asked me; "Miz, so what happens when you fart. Like if you are walking and you fart, do you go faster? Did not have a response for that one! And I cried I laughed so hard. Teaching in a Jar. I have ...
Teaching In a Jar: Another Year
http://teachinginajar.blogspot.com/2011/11/another-year.html
Wednesday, November 2, 2011. It has been FAR TOO LONG since I have last signed in and updated my blog. My reasons and excuses are endless. Biggest reason: no internet connection at home! How have I survived? Enter the world of the iPhone. I totally have no need for one, but I cannot imagine my life without one now. With the recent movement to wifi internet at my house, I am back online and feeling angry I have not posted in so long. Will post more soon! Teaching in a Jar. November 3, 2011 at 3:26 PM.
Teaching In a Jar: February 2011
http://teachinginajar.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html
Monday, February 28, 2011. I am very tired of everyone telling me to relax and not take things so seriously. I am becoming increasingly concerned with the lack of work ethic from my student population. I don't got nothing Miz. Stop staring at me! He didn't answer all the questions on his test and he did not turn in his homework either. What am I supposed to do? Keep living with sunflower shells all over my floor? Teaching in a Jar. I was surplus-ed. I got an email late on Thursday saying all teachers...
Teaching In a Jar: June 2011
http://teachinginajar.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html
Thursday, June 2, 2011. End of the First Year. The end of my first year teaching has come. I have actually been out of school for 2 weeks now - but I felt an obligation to take the time and process my feelings about the first year. And study. Below are my kids test scores. PD1 – 53.5%. PD5 – 44.5%. PD8 – 47.2%. PD3 – 54.9%. PD7 – 55.6%. They literally give the students the tests with the answers on them as the study guides. They spent 2 weeks reviewing with them and gave them all the answers again. Givin...

dandelion lovely: The Pursuit of Happiness
http://dandelionlovely.blogspot.com/2010/06/pursuit-of-happiness.html
Monday, June 28, 2010. The Pursuit of Happiness. I have been listening to the song “Pursuit of Happiness” by Kid Cudi practically on repeat. It makes my heart flutter. I would put all the words on here but there is some slight cursing and I’m not trying to offend. 8220;Imma do just what I want. Lookin’ ahead no turnin’ back. If I fall, if I die, know I lived it to the fullest. If I fall, if I die, know I lived and missed some bullets. I'm on the pursuit of happiness. The thought sounds absurd, I know.

Teaching In a Jar
Monday, September 10, 2012. This parent started the meeting off in a huff! She was very upset at us teachers and went off for about 2 minutes about how we were not explaining to her son how he could succeed. The counselor let her finish, then calmly said; "Well, the teachers are the professionals here so let's defer to them on how 'John' can succeed." What a TRANSFORMATION! All of us teachers spoke and said our peace, when we were done, "John" was left holding all the blame. What a relief! Enter the worl...
