On the 1st day of school, I always greet the students in the hallway making sure they are in the right class and helping others find their way around. HERE IS THE MATH BEHIND THIS GENIUS IDEA! Teaching in Special Education: One-Step Equations
http://teachinginspecialeducation.blogspot.com/2012/11/one-step-equations.html
Sunday, November 11, 2012. Last week we covered solving one-step equations in my Algebra class. Here are the pages we created in our Interactive Student Notebook (ISN). These are pages 3-4 in our notebooks. I didn't start the ISN at the beginning of the year so there would have been many more pages before this one. On the left side is the fold-able I made on the computer and printed off for the students. (template below). At the very bottom of the right side, I asked students to summarize in 1 sentence h...

Teaching in Special Education: The Coordinate Plane
http://teachinginspecialeducation.blogspot.com/2013/01/the-coordinate-plane.html
Wednesday, January 9, 2013. Students were given a double sided page where they cut on the dotted lines and folded on the solid ones. It created a four flap foldable where each flap was one of the four quadrants. I added the font so all they had to do was color it in. When you open up each of the flaps it reveals that quadrant on a coordinate plane. On the inside of the flap is where students filled out information about that specific quadrant. Here are the links to the foldable, it's two pages that you p...
Teaching in Special Education: Quadrilaterals
http://teachinginspecialeducation.blogspot.com/2013/04/quadrilaterals.html
Friday, April 5, 2013. So I thought over spring break I would catch up on all of my blogging, find cool new activities to do with my math students, and create some new ISN pages. Well needless to say that never happened. We covered Quadrilaterals in Geometry class, however we only went with regular quadrilaterals for the time being. My students love charts, and when I say love I really mean LOVE! Update: Both pages have been change to reflect the correct information for Kite*. May 21, 2013 at 6:29 PM.

Students who have had difficulty in reading have experienced a rapid sense of improvement, success, and confidence. Many of these students have had difficulty reading all the way through elementary and middle school and into high school until they have been shown a new approach supported with our one on one Orton-Gillingham tutoring. Former high school students of Mr. Taylor have experienced a high rate of success in college English classes. Mr Taylor received Teacher of the Year Award in 1999 and 1997.
