Finding joy in the journey of teaching and learning. Skip to primary content. New Year’s Eve. January 1, 2016. I sit here tonight reflecting, as we all probably do in some form. There have been times this year that have been amazing and times that have been extremely hard. What has your year been like? We begin to dream about what would make our life easier or happier or less chaotic or more fulfilled. I guess it’s ok to dream but what would it look like if we focus on joy in the moment? Maybe it’s...

Finding joy in the journey of teaching and learning. Skip to primary content. Skip to secondary content. Newer posts →. August 16, 2014. Tonight I’m satisfied after spending some time in God’s creation. After several long, busy weeks, I had a few hours to slow down and enjoy some downtime. My friend found this great little park by the water. I read and prayed and enjoyed the beauty. Let’s remember to slow down and take those few moments to enjoy His beauty this week. Monday Moment of Joy in His Word.

Finding joy in the journey of teaching and learning. Skip to primary content. So here it is Saturday again. Are you enjoying some rest today? I’m loving the thought of an extra day this weekend. Glad we have Monday off. Looking back on this week, I’m thankful for…. A principal who understands special ed and who allows our team to meet the needs of kids creatively. Yesterday, I shed some tears as I remembered these godly men who had such an impact on our church in the short time they were there. I&#82...

The difference between understanding and knowing… | Shiloh's Farm

https://shilohsfarm.com/2016/10/31/the-difference-between-understanding-and-knowing/comment-page-1

The difference between understanding and knowing…. I suppose there’s always a calm before the storm, or maybe I just didn’t recognize it. It can be so very subtle. It had been four, almost five years since my dads death. Though things had been really good in life, spiritually speaking I was a train wreck. When I left the walls of the church and met the real world, I was ill prepared for it and all it had to offer. There’s such a huge difference. 1 John 2:3 says:. Scripture also tells us in 1 John 4:8:.

The Great Purge, con’t… | Shiloh's Farm

https://shilohsfarm.com/2017/01/07/the-great-purge-cont

The Great Purge, con’t…. When you hear the word purge, what do you think of? I can’t say this word was a regular part of my vernacular at all, but it seemed to become a definite part of my life. So as I was getting rid of much of my stuff, the Lord continued His encouragement to purge my life. I walk my dog around the community of the condo two to three times a day. This gives me opportunity to do lots of thinking on these walks and I’ve had many conversations with the Lord as well. January 7, 2017.

The best laid plans in our eyes are not always the way things need to be. I believe that each piece of property has its own personality and purpose. That there is a way to work with the land with not having to beat it into submission to meet what we think is right. Somewhat along the lines of permaculture. This is the learning curve of the farm. From the name to the function of the property, it is all subject to change and adaptation, until things fall into place. Because of the condition of our soil, we...

Monthly Archives: November 2016. I had outfitted the Olds with a hitch and purchased a tow rig which attached to the bumper of the Mazda pickup via bolts. Like I said previously, the truck was packed! So off I went to Philly for the first leg of the journey. I don’t remember just how long I spent at each place, but it was great to see my family members. It had to be replaced with something much stronger to withstand the stress. So everything was replaced that needed to be and I was back on the road!

Timing  | Shiloh's Farm

https://shilohsfarm.com/2017/01/15/timing

There are areas of my life that I can be kind of OCD about. Being on time is one, but I can be late. So my OCD doesn’t outway my ability to be timely, it just really bothers me. I was also working out and eating like I never had before. When I started my life change, because I have no will power and no clue about food, I went with nutrisystem to learn and retrain myself. It only took about 45 days and I was able to venture out on my own without nutrisystem. This entry was posted in Uncategorized. Notify ...

Have you heard the phrase, “If I knew then, what I know now…”. The fact of the matter is, we really have no clue what our future holds as we live this life here on earth. As Christ followers, we know where our home is, but while we are on the journey home, the best we can do is keep our eyes on the risen Son, and try as best we can to stay true north, not to waiver to the left or right. I have learned so very much, grown a lot, though not enough, and feel buried in blessing. I have come to learn, that I ...

Just a man seeking after the heart of God. Have you ever looked up a definition of a word and they use a version of the word to define itself? So it is with the word adoption. Truth be told it bothers me when they do that. The fun starts, however, when we look at the origin of the word, which for adoption, is Latin. So adoption means to choose. Those we’ve been given or have adopted have been great. All of our animals are part of the Shiloh family. The pure breed animal we purchased that has been a pain?

What’s it all mean? | Shiloh's Farm

https://shilohsfarm.com/2017/01/12/whats-it-all-mean

What’s it all mean? I really like to know the meaning behind things and I see it so much better now, then I could see it then. Having purged my house of stuff and more stuff. Having purged my life of relationships. Having purged my body of food. I see my life having been purged of idols. And I just now see that. As I reflect back on my studies and conversations I’ve had with pastors in that time period, it is all about the idols that I had in my life. All of it. I am His steward and ambassador. Given vs&...

Monthly Archives: January 2017. Walk by faith, not by sight. 2nd Corinthians 5:7 depending on the translation. We were about 7 days from the wedding. My bride’s family was amazingly helpful and worked so hard. We are very grateful and the wedding would not have been as amazing as it was without their help and hard work! This is a topic we talked about a few times and it was a pretty low key conversation. There is a short silence. Then I ask this question:. 8220;How much of you not wanting to take my last...

TeachingJoyfully | Finding joy in the journey of teaching

Finding joy in the journey of teaching. Joyful Moment on this Monday. February 29, 2016. Monday moment of joy. Today I’m thankful for the sun! What a gorgeous day it was today- a reminder that Spring is coming. My classroom doesn’t have any windows (except for the nice little poster of a window that the teacher from last year left). When I left the room at the end of the day to do dismissal duty, I overheard another teacher saying “Oh wait! It’s sunny today? Or do I live like I’m still in the dark? Am I ...
