Teaching Mrs. T: July 2014

http://teachingmrst.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html

Thursday, July 17, 2014. I wanted to share a little something I use in my classroom every day. It is the skip counting songs by Have Fun Teaching. My class absolutely adores the songs, and during my observations they were dying to share with my assistant principal. They can sing all the words and I have seen a great improvement in their multiplication skills. They are able to skip count by all numbers in order to find out the answer to a multiplication problem. I would highly recommend these songs! I use...

Teaching Mrs. T: Classroom Management

http://teachingmrst.blogspot.com/p/classroom-management.html

Have you Filled a Bucket Today? Last year was my second year teaching and I realized after my difficult first year I needed a clear plan for classroom management. Besides sitting down and coming up with my routines and procedures for everything, I also knew I needed a way to make my classroom positive. I found I was able to do that by using the idea of Bucketfilling. I began by reading my class Have You Filled a Bucket Today? I've seen them at the dollar spot once again this year! This went along with th...

Teaching Mrs. T: It's time to start planning again...

http://teachingmrst.blogspot.com/2014/07/its-time-to-start-planning-again.html

Wednesday, July 16, 2014. It's time to start planning again. After a much needed breather, I am back! I've been updating my products for the 14-15 school year. I have updated my teacher binder for the year. This thing was such a help to me last year, my students knew that I took it everywhere and they would always say, "Mrs. T, don't forget your binder! I'm beginning to think about classroom set up next year and I really really really want this new thing. What are you coveting for back to school? I conti...

Teach With All The Colors of the Wind: August 2012

http://teachwithcolorsofthewind.blogspot.com/2012_08_01_archive.html

Sunday, August 26, 2012. Food For Thought, With the 1st Day Upon Me (Us). Why I Hated Meredith's First Grade Teacher: An Open Letter to America's Teachers. What a sweet, amusing reflection on the profound effect we as teachers can have on our students. Warning: I did cry. I am the weepiest son of a gun. God help me when I have children. With tomorrow being the first day again with my lovely 5th graders.I will strive to keep this in mind every day. Pictures to follow once it's done-done. Like I believe th...

Write On, Fourth Grade!: Word Choice: Old vs. Ancient

http://writeonfourthgrade.blogspot.com/2012/07/word-choice-old-vs-ancient.html

Thursday, July 26, 2012. Word Choice: Old vs. Ancient. This week our school is hosting a "Summer Enrichment Camp" that gives students the option of attending 5 shortened school days where they can get a head start into their new grade level. It's been nice to meet some of our brand new fourth graders, see my coworkers again, and start working on my room. I'm loving the new door sign I ordered from Fanciful Felt by Bourdiers on Etsy! I hardly ever shop online, but this was a must-have! Poor woman. I'd...

Perspectives on Teaching and School Reform. For always the inmost in due time becomes the outmost.". Ralph Waldo Emerson,. Wednesday, October 17, 2012. It's A Matter of What. We marvel at the beauty of this process, and are in awe of their combination of fragileness and fierce determination. We understand their daily drive for growing and learning. It is who they are. In their presence, we strive to speak and act in ways that nurture them. So doesn't it follow that our students can't help but learn?

Critical reflections on what it means to teach and be taught…. 8220;You call it grey hair… I call it stress highlights! April 20, 2015. In the run up to my wedding last year I found my first grey hair, and was filled with many feelings – mainly of the ‘Oh no! 1) I survived my first residential! 2) “I think Sweden has the largest population because it has less mountains and lakes than Norway and Finland.”. 3) My first class assembly – WOW! Teaching Mrs. Ryan. Monday, August 10, 2015. Let the "In-Service" Begin! Every year when students are counting those days left of summer time fun, teachers are going back early. We have to get our classrooms ready and of course training. Tons and tons and tons of training. Teaching the Teacher | Ms. Rose's Journey

About Ms. Rose. Lesson Plans and Such. Ms Rose's Journey. Sharing Isn’t Always Caring. January 10, 2014 by rosereads. There are something that students do that drive me crazy. Sharing crazy things they hear on the news or read on Facebook is at the top of the list. She sat in class for ten minutes and did nothing but complain about how I could have stopped her sooner. Maybe I should have, but the bigger question is why share that piece of news? What made her think that was appropriate for the class?
