Using Youtube effectively | teachingwithfletch
https://teachingwithfletch.wordpress.com/2016/05/29/using-youtube-effectively/comment-page-1
May 29, 2016. I have just finished reading Lesley Donohoe’s. From last week in praise of YouTube. As I was reading it I couldn’t help agree that YouTube is a great resource. I have had some “hairy” moments though trying to show seemingly innocent videos only to be bombarded by some inappropriate content – not great in the classroom! So to stop this (embarrassing event) I looked for a filter of some type and stumbled across this Safe Share. Pumpkins and maths…. Pumpkins in prep. →. Enter your comment here.

June 10, 2016. Responsible digital citizenship consists of the strategies that may be employed to protect the online safety of self and others. Safety in respect to identity and personal data. Personally I try not to divulge critical personal information, I am careful about whom I share my data with and about discussion the personal data of others on public forums. I try to restrict online shopping to only well known and secure sites. The scary world of behaviour “management”. Leave a Reply Cancel reply.

Pumpkins and maths…. May 29, 2016. May 30, 2016. It’s autumn and that means that pumpkins are cheap. Yay! I’ve bought two today that will feature in my prep maths lessons throughout the week. Some time ago I came across an interesting lesson idea by Judy Christiansen. Based around Jeanne Titherington’s. Throughout the week students will use non standardised measurements (string) to measure their wrist, their neck and their waist in pairs. I hope it will end of looking good in a classroom display. You are...

The scary world of behaviour “management”. May 30, 2016. May 30, 2016. Confident behaviour management is a skill that is not acquired overnight. Working with defiant behaviour can be as Jacqueline Howlett. States in her latest blog, downright terrifying. Is there an easy answer? No, unfortunately not, but experience builds confidence and skills in analysing appropriate actions to take, language to use and, learning what makes students “tick”. Responsible digital citizens →. Teaching with Facebook
Monday, January 25, 2010. Some Resources We Used in Our Decision. An excellent blog written by Jeff Utecht, had two posts that we found useful. One, Why Facebook is Unblocked at ISB. Was a note that was sent out to the community members offering the reasoning behind opening Facebook, while the other, Make Students Your Fans. Provided an interesting suggestion of making students your fans rather than “friending” them. And A Teacher’s Guide to Using Facebook. Thursday, January 21, 2010. Once the decision w...

June 10, 2016. June 11, 2016. Keeping our young people, and for that matter ourselves, safe during our online experiences is a serious matter. As with most matters in education is comes down to knowing your students and using this knowledge to design effective learning experiences that build on what they already know. The school where I have completed my P.E. is a Queensland government school and uses the Cybersafety strategies of the 5P’s. Privacy keep your passwords and personal details secure. Queensl...

Saturday, January 7, 2017. Dear Reader: A New Year. Thinking about that made me realize that in the wonderful field of teaching, we interact with students and parents who may never really know our thoughts and intentions. We are perceived (and sometimes misperceived) by the public. I'm looking forward to sharing. Thank you for coming along this journey. Monday, September 29, 2014. New Experiences, New Lessons.
