Heather's Heart: July 2015
http://heathersfirstgradeheart.blogspot.com/2015_07_01_archive.html
Sunday, July 19, 2015. Sunday's Heart Start: Snapshots of the Heart. This Sunday's Heart Start is one that I think all teachers need to hear. This past year was a struggle for me. Not because I had a difficult class but because there were so many moments that just showed the sad direction I see teaching heading sometimes. But then my heart remembered. More than I know I taught her. The snapshot of her in my head has nothing to do with her scores or grades but her heart. Squirrel* * * * *. Teachers alread...

Wednesday, December 24, 2014. The Gift of a Teacher. Merry Christmas sweet friends. I hope you are enjoying your holiday and are finding time to see the blessings that are all around us. I am blessed by the gift God gave us in His son because without the manger there would be no cross. I want to give them a teacher who has A Heart of Patience. Seeing our kiddos as the future seems to get more difficult and difficult each year because teaching becomes more and more stressful and the dynamics of our classr...

Heather's Heart: Is Your Heart in Your Room?
http://heathersfirstgradeheart.blogspot.com/2012/07/is-your-heart-in-your-room.html
Thursday, July 19, 2012. Is Your Heart in Your Room? I was at the. I mean my classroom today. I started thinking. Squirrel* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *. Did you know that young children have not developed inner speech to govern their behavior yet? This means there is no little voice in their head that might be saying I should not hit my friend b. I'll have to sit in time out. If I wipe my boogers on Ms. Price's rug, she will move my clip. Okay, the squirrel is gone and I am back on track. =).

Heather's Heart: A Heart of Patience
http://heathersfirstgradeheart.blogspot.com/2012/03/heart-of-patience.html
Wednesday, March 14, 2012. A Heart of Patience. You are behind in the curriculum. The weather hasn't let you have recess in a week. There is a full moon. It is only 10:00 in the morning. There are so many things that happen in our lives that we have no control over. There are situations everyday that we go through that are stressful, sad, boring, draining, exciting, frustrating, irritating, happy, and so many more that put us on an emotional roller coaster. One or two, right? I would say before I read th...

Heather's Heart: Because of You
http://heathersfirstgradeheart.blogspot.com/2011/09/because-of-you.html
Sunday, September 18, 2011. I am dedicating my Sunday posts to sharing poems to inspire. Teachers often do not get the recognition for all they do and we know that our jobs are so much more than the lessons and curriculum we teach. We are nurses, counselors, parents, mediators, cheerleaders, and sometimes just loving arms where a child finds security and love. Posted by Heather's Heart. Sunday, September 18, 2011. Tamara L. Chilver. Oh Heather, I LOVE your blog! October 6, 2011 at 6:26 PM. Your sweet wor...

Heather's Heart: The Teacher in the Mirror
http://heathersfirstgradeheart.blogspot.com/2014/12/the-teacher-in-mirror.html
Friday, December 19, 2014. The Teacher in the Mirror. It has been forever since I wrote a blog post. I have thought of so many things I wanted to share with you but just can't get it together to share them. I find myself wondering how is December almost over? Where is this year going? This is my 15th year of teaching.and I have been in 1st the whole time. Considering that piece of info, I wonder how in the world can I feel as if I am drowning at least 80% of the time? The Teacher in the Mirror. Teacher i...

Heather's Heart: A Visit from The Pumpkin Snatchers
http://heathersfirstgradeheart.blogspot.com/2013/10/a-visit-from-pumpkin-snatchers.html
Wednesday, October 23, 2013. A Visit from The Pumpkin Snatchers. On Tuesday, my kiddos were beyond excited before they even got to our classroom. All around the school, children were seeing candy corns EVERYWHERE! As soon as my kiddos got to our classroom, they found a letter from the Pumpkin Snatchers. We read the letter from the Pumpkin Snatchers again to help us remember that they only love to eat the letters in the word PUMPKINS. We sorted the letters they like and the ones that they dislike....We pr...
