Teaching with Purpose

A journey of teaching and learning at home. Thursday, February 12, 2009. Our not so perfect devotional time. I wanted to write about our family devotional time. First, I wanted to give you a glimpse at how it goes for us. It will be reassuring to hear- I hope. We have a real family. Not a perfect family. Here goes the dialogue. Mike: Kids come to the table! It’s time for our family devotional. Ethan take the Lego’s off the table. Rebecca: I want to sit by mommy. Mike: You’re right Anderson. Rebecca: I do...

Teaching with Purpose: January 2009

http://www.teachingwithpurpose.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html

A journey of teaching and learning at home. Thursday, January 29, 2009. When I was in public school. When I was in public school I really didn’t like it especially high school. I had plenty of friends and I didn’t feel out of place. I didn’t like sitting in a classroom all day. Now, that I am homeschooling I have looked back on my experience and thought through a few things. I also didn’t really see a real purpoe in learning what I was being taught. I encourage you to look at some resources on what type ...

Teaching with Purpose: Reassurance

http://www.teachingwithpurpose.blogspot.com/2009/01/reassurance.html

A journey of teaching and learning at home. Monday, January 5, 2009. I can say without hesitation I would have given up long ago if I did not have Christ to talk to, lean on and trust in. I don’t see how anyone can do it for long without Him. Don’t get me wrong- There are still days when I question this decision (in the flesh). I also make sure I let everyone in my house know that I am questioning the decision. It is not pretty. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Why I have a blog. Story of The World.

LearnGrow.Teach.Believe.Trust.Live. Searching for the perfect curriculum and books. I went to the GHEA conference this weekend and I always enjoy going. I get to flip through lots of different types of curriculum and books. I love it! I walk away with having an idea of what I don't want. I just want to leave with a clearer sense of what I do want. I enjoyed hearing Jeannie Fulbright. Check out their website for great resources. Ethan's playing baseball for a friend going to China. They did a great job!

LearnGrow.Teach.Believe.Trust.Live. So, I desire to earnestly pray for God to give me the words so that I can experience all He has for 2009 . I know HE will make it interesting. I am reminded of the promise in Romans 8:16-18. That because we are God's children the sufferings (anguish, pain, even growth) is so that we can share in His glory. That's wild. It's amazing! Happy New Year to my friends and family! I just love the Bible. I love the “So that”, “For this reason” and &#...The Long Defeat.Hmmm.

Living It Out: Light bulbs

http://living-it-out.blogspot.com/2009/02/light-bulbs.html

LearnGrow.Teach.Believe.Trust.Live. In my early 20’s I really thought I had most spiritual things figured out. I would look at myself and not see many things that needed to be changed. I laugh at that now. I would look at verses and highlight them for someone else that needed to hear it. I pictured myself in a long narrow tunnel. The tunnel represented my Christian walk. The tunnel was dimly lit. I like the tunnel and light bulb analogy. April 28, 2009 at 5:20 PM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Living It Out: Hosea's Wife-Gomer

http://living-it-out.blogspot.com/2009/02/hoseas-wife-gomer.html

LearnGrow.Teach.Believe.Trust.Live. I was recently looking again at the book of Hosea in the Bible because of a song by Brooke Fraser titled Hosea’s Wife. I also recalled the book by Francis Rivers titled Redeeming Love. When I was reading Hosea I found myself shocked and amazed. I simply can’t get over the actions of Gomer. She repeatedly turned from Hosea in spite of his forgiveness. Yet I was even more astonished at how Hosea responded. He continually took her back. Now I have three going at once.

LearnGrow.Teach.Believe.Trust.Live. Fear is such a relative emotion. What one person is afraid of may not even cross the mind of someone else. Also, depending on a person’s experience and environment fear can be different for each individual. On top of that, the deceiver (Satan) can lead individuals to fear something that can trap and enslave them. Mike asked a question the other day of each of our kids… What are you afraid of? We had a range of answers:. Rebecca: I am afraid of dying. Some are writers t...
