An iPad Contract Designed by Students | TEaCHitivity
https://teachitivity.wordpress.com/2014/11/01/student-ipad-contracts
Teach with creativity. embrace technology. An iPad Contract Designed by Students. November 1, 2014. In a 1:1 classroom, I regretted not having a digital contract developed with my students last year. There were many times last year where I wished I had something to pull out of my files and point to when a student wasn’t being responsible with their iPads. Thankfully I have this year to make changes! How do you set expectations when launching a 1:1 mobile device classroom? November 3, 2014 at 9:05 am.

Teach with creativity. embrace technology. May 29, 2015. Simple assistive technologies such as the Reminders app, Dragon Dictation, and the camera has helped my students stay organized and easily access text or content in class. Tools that allow me to create and assess flipped lessons such as iMovie, Padlet. Instagram, and Schoology. To top it off, my students’ access to multi-literacies and knowledge has exploded because of the devices. Thanks to News-O-Matic. Category : Tech Integration. We have Chrome...

Here’s a 2-minute video I made for the Apple Distinguished Educator application where I share my story of how iPads transformed myself, my classroom, and my students. Teach with creativity. embrace technology. Students Share Writing Process with AR. November 14, 2014. Except, once a published piece is finished, all that’s left is the result. You don’t get to see the blood and sweat behind it. For instance, what inspired them? What changes or revisions did they make? What intentional decisions were made in the piece? Can they articulate their writing process? All a reader would have to do is:. 1 Open the free app, Aurasma (You don’t need an account! Maybe it’s ok...

Teaching in the 21st Century. Monday, July 6, 2015. Digital Reading: Chapters 1 and 2. How I read professional books has changed over the years. I am curious about the author’s word choice so I find myself collecting vocabulary words and writing them in the margins. In Chapter 1 and 2 I noticed:. In both chapters: Defining Digital Literacy. And From Reading Workshop to Digital Reading Workshop,. The first step is determining the intention. How did I help them achieve ownership. As I finished, chapter 2, ...

Teaching in the 21st Century. Saturday, January 31, 2015. January Reflection OLW: Say Yes to IT. Thanks to Google images. 8220;You’ll never do IT,” said my husband. 8220;Yes, I will,” I replied. 8230;…. “”Done, we booked IT.”. Above is one of my favorite conversations with my husband as he challenged me to take all three personal days at one time. I’ve never done IT in 26 years of teaching. How could I be away from my students for three days in a row? It’s January 31, and I am going to post about m...

Teaching in the 21st Century: Celebrate: a handful of stars
http://teachingin21.blogspot.com/2015/06/celebrate-handful-of-stars.html
Teaching in the 21st Century. Saturday, June 13, 2015. Celebrate: a handful of stars. It's summer and the first full week has come to a close. It's interesting to me how time seems to slow down in the summer. The minutes move like a snail crawling across our garden wall. Each summer I appreciate that feeling more and more. I am celebrating finishing my first book: a handful of stars. Different is good it makes you pay attention.". Sometimes life is like a long road leading from one "if" to another".

You ever have one of those days when you are so thankful that you are able to do the job you love! Both girls who happen to be great friends decided to start a word notebook. Teaching in the 21st Century. Monday, May 9, 2011. Favorite 5th grade Apps of the Year! With state testing finished and only three weeks left in the school year, yes we are out by May 27 even with our snow days! I have decided to have my class reflect on their favorite apps of the year! It was fun to listen to the students discuss their favorite apps and then have to choose their top 10 favorite. I had the students write about how the apps helped them and I will reflect on their comments this summer!

Teaching in the 21st Century. Saturday, April 25, 2015. Celebrating Minutes of Time. It's Saturday, 1:11 pm, our daughter always told me to make a wish at this specific time. It was always and continues to be our special moment. We even text each other pictures of 1:11. It's 11:18 am and we watched the two hour special about Bruce Jenner. I was glad I did. I'm reminded once again that we really don't understand each other until we walk in their shoes. A lesson and a perspective that I have be...To all th...

http://teachingin21.blogspot.com/2015/06/celebrating-rainy-perspective.html
Teaching in the 21st Century. Saturday, June 20, 2015. Celebrating a Rainy Perspective. My next celebration is one of learning at home! Which is perfect for me since I chose to stay home this summer and not attend the summer conferences that I have typically gone too. It really is amazing that I could sit at home on my deck and feel like I was at Allwrite15 through twitter. I wrote several ideas in my WNB and tweeted out and felt like I was almost there. Perfect for me. Thanks to Ruth Ayre's. Being conne...
