http://readmonkeytales.blogspot.com/2011/03/my-comic-strip.html
Friday, March 11, 2011. This is a cartoon I am creating for use in our science unit on organisms. My plan is to continue the strip throughout the Spring making each strip relevant to something we are studying. March 12, 2011 at 12:06 AM. I love it, Lauren! Adventures in Teaching: January 2011
http://nikesadventuresinteaching.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html
Saturday, January 29, 2011. Success for my ELL Student. Now that I'm back in the classroom more, I'm amazed. He is approaching me more and asking for things in one or two word sentences. And – he's volunteering to answer questions that the teacher poses! Again, to see the smile on his face that came from his success was priceless. One of the things K. has taught me this year is how important it is for students (all students, not just ELL) to feel successful. Math Manipulatives – The Learning Curve. I tho...

I Want to be a Teacher When I Grow Up: January 2011
http://iwanttobeateacherwhenigrowup.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html
I Want to be a Teacher When I Grow Up. Sunday, January 30, 2011. In anticipation of the up coming unit on fractions in my main placement I was hunting for fresh ideas and tools to use with my 4th and 5th graders and I came across conceptua math. I just spent an hour exploring the site and playing with some of the virtual manipulatives and I really like it! Thursday, January 27, 2011. Ownership and Meaning of the Pieces. Before beginning to read her story to me she explained that the writing was initiated...

I Want to be a Teacher When I Grow Up: Activote
http://iwanttobeateacherwhenigrowup.blogspot.com/2011/02/activote.html
I Want to be a Teacher When I Grow Up. Wednesday, February 2, 2011. I attended a LID (teacher in service training day) Monday where we discussed methods for true formative assessment. The Activote system is an excellent method for achieving true formative assessment. I hope more schools can employ these devices in the future (I can hope right? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). I Want to be a Teacher When I Grow Up: Mathematics of a Honeycomb
http://iwanttobeateacherwhenigrowup.blogspot.com/2011/02/mathematics-of-honeycomb.html
I Want to be a Teacher When I Grow Up. Wednesday, February 2, 2011. Mathematics of a Honeycomb. I guess I never fully appreciated the intelligence of this small, pain inflicting, creature. This video is rather outdated, but very fascinating! I think this conjecture has the potential for a very interesting and fun integrated math and science lesson. By the way, what took you to this search? Have you found others that are interesting? February 28, 2011 at 12:45 PM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

I Want to be a Teacher When I Grow Up: Project #1 Draft

I Want to be a Teacher When I Grow Up. Thursday, January 27, 2011. This analysis is based on two samples of N’s writing; one is a draft of a short story about a current incidence that caused her to recall a memory of significant event from her past, including prewriting notes. The other is the beginning a story about a memory of a birthday spent with her grandmother, including an illustration. Additionally, I have included a spelling inventory. I Want to be a Teacher When I Grow Up: October 2010
http://iwanttobeateacherwhenigrowup.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html
I Want to be a Teacher When I Grow Up. Friday, October 22, 2010. I do not consider myself to be good writer or even a mediocre one for that matter. So when I heard yesterday in class that in order to teach writing one must be able to write, I was a little worried. I am like the person who says, “ I am no good at math,” except for me it is writing. I don’t know what the issue is. Is it because I am hyperactive and writing requires sitting for periods of time at a computer? Wednesday, October 20, 2010.

I Want to be a Teacher When I Grow Up: December 2010
http://iwanttobeateacherwhenigrowup.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html
I Want to be a Teacher When I Grow Up. Monday, December 6, 2010. I had mixed feelings throughout the Itouch project. At first I didn’t get it and I thought it was a little weird. Then, when I started discovering and exploring all of the educational apps, I could see the point more clearly. Unfortunately the pendulum swung again when I went through a string of applications that either didn’t work properly, or had wrong information (see my iformulas. And can easily learn how to use new devices. I cannot be...
