The World I See: December 2014
http://theworldiphotograph.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
The World I See. An exploration of photography and life. Sunday, December 14, 2014. Winter" on the bayou. Today, on December 14, in Louisiana, it was 70 degrees F outside! I was in shorts, a t-shirt, and sandals as I paddled through Black Bayou NWR with Kermit. This weather is the complete opposite of what I typically experienced this time of year, growing up in New Hampshire. In contrast, below is Black Bayou Lake NWR today. Additionally, alligators were out on this warm December day, basking in the sun.

The World I See: August 2014
http://theworldiphotograph.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html
The World I See. An exploration of photography and life. Sunday, August 24, 2014. This afternoon I took Kermit and my 60mm macro-lens for a walk at the Boulder Knoll conservation area in Cheshire CT, which is less than five miles my parents’ house. While I am staying in CT, I am making an effort to appreciate and explore the local natural areas, primarily by visiting conservation easements and state parks. An up-close shot of a black walnut leaf. There is a lot of golden rod on site ( Solidago canadensis.

The World I See: I love winter
http://theworldiphotograph.blogspot.com/2011/03/i-love-winter.html
The World I See. An exploration of photography and life. Thursday, March 10, 2011. The ash-frame snowshoes I weaved. My snowshoe tracks next to more modern style snowshoes tracks worn by Jacqui. Me during my last visit home. There was thick crust on the 2.5 ft of snow, with my snowshoes I was often able to remain on the very top layer of snow. I'm wearing a wool hat my Memere knitted, wool pants, mukluks, a wool sweater and a down vest. It is my humble opinion that winter is the least appreciated season.

The World I See: Africa Lake- Tensas River National Wildlife Refuge
http://theworldiphotograph.blogspot.com/2015/05/africa-lake-tensas-river-national.html
The World I See. An exploration of photography and life. Sunday, May 10, 2015. Africa Lake- Tensas River National Wildlife Refuge. I took Kermit out paddling on Africa Lake. In the Tensas River National Wildlife Refuge. Africa Lake is an old oxbow lake of the Tensas River. The lake is smack in the middle of a large expanse of bottom land hardwood forest. This forest, the refuge, was the actually the location of the last confirmed sighting of the ivory-billed woodpecker in the 1940s. Teach Run. Eat.

The World I See: Black Lake Bayou National Wildlife Refuge
http://theworldiphotograph.blogspot.com/2014/10/black-lake-bayou-national-wildlife.html
The World I See. An exploration of photography and life. Friday, October 24, 2014. Black Lake Bayou National Wildlife Refuge. Kermit seemed to enjoy watching the various species of heron, egret, anhingas, and other water birds. My wife and I moved to Louisiana about a week and a half ago, after I accepted a position with the USDA. So far, I have found Louisiana to be a very beautiful state, and we are both excited to explore a different part of the country! While I absolutely love winter. The flora and f...

The World I See: September 2014
http://theworldiphotograph.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
The World I See. An exploration of photography and life. Tuesday, September 30, 2014. The remains of an old mill are on site. Tuesday, September 23, 2014. Brooke Memorial Preserve and Fresh Meadows Preserve. I have been visiting as many of the conservation properties in the area as possible. So yesterday after work I explored Brooke Memorial Preserve. And Fresh Meadows Wildlife Sanctuary. The trail in Brooke Memorial is growing over and reminds me an old logging road, common throughout New England. Is wr...

The World I See: Turkey Creek Lake
http://theworldiphotograph.blogspot.com/2015/07/turkey-creek-lake.html
The World I See. An exploration of photography and life. Sunday, July 5, 2015. Two weeks ago I went paddling around the northern portion of Turkey Creek Lake, Louisiana. It's a beautiful area, with some incredible cypress. There is an interesting Water-body Management Plan document publicly available from the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries website, here. It was tough trying to get a photo of this water spider, without leaning too far over in the canoe. July 6, 2015 at 3:10 PM.

Last weekend I explored the campus arboretum with Kermit and my 60mm macro lens. You can see my reflection in Kermit's beautiful eye. One of my favorite tree species, tamarack. http://theworldiphotograph.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html
The World I See. An exploration of photography and life. Tuesday, July 15, 2014. Before heading out of the White Mountains, I made sure to stop at The Basin. It's right off Highway 93, very accessible (a short flat path, paved part of the way), and worth a visit. Kermit, the silly dog, tried to jump in! Monday, July 14, 2014. Steve Smith of the Mountain Wanderer. Has a great blog post. About the history of East Pond, which at one point was mined for diatomaceous earth. The East Pond outlet stream. The Gr...

teachruneat.com – a blog on learning to live a healthy life, in and out of the classroom
A blog on learning to live a healthy life, in and out of the classroom. August 7, 2015. Inspiration for the week. I can’t believe it’s August already! How helping children find nature helps us find ourselves. This post resonated with me, and was written by someone who used to work at the same nature center as I do! Ohhh how I want to teach kindergarten at a place like this. I am trying to figure out how to add more yoga into my classroom, since research shows it may help relieve ADHD in children. As a re...

Tuesday, May 5, 2015. My 32-35 week bump updates! These last few weeks have been rough but I've made it through so far. I'm going to post pictures but not do the whole run down post for each of these weeks. Maybe a few little notes here and there but I have a belly book journal that I've been trying to keep up with so without further ado. I have the sweetest people to work with! Momma went to the doc this week and had to do a 24 hour urine collection to test for protein incase I'm developing preeclampsia.

Teach R World | Learning that grows eager and motivated people
Learning that grows eager and motivated people. Where School is Failing Us. August 12, 2015. It’s obvious to most people that the children who do well in school aren’t always the most successful in the real world. Why is that? Isn’t school success a predictor of adult success? Why did those hard-working students, the ones who took pride in always getting the “A”, not become the most successful adults? Why did the daydreamers sometimes end up with the mansions, the great cars and sometimes, the patents?
