Our family stories.blog. For Friends in China. Stories from China - blog. Welcome home esther joy! We made it home very late last night - to lots of love from a small group of family and friends! The girls both did great with the nearly 24 hours of travel! YaYa did not fuss even once on the plane! A MIRACLE :) She slept great during the normal hours of sleep, enjoyed the food and people, sang to everyone, and had fun with Lily:). I will be recording our family stories on the family blog page from now on -.

Pratical Anachronism
The last tuesday before lent is Pancake day. Here I am showing the oldest known recipe for pancakes. It is from the apicius cookbook. Most likely this is a greek recipe, and not a roman recipe. There were 2 varieties listed. The first is with wheat flour was called tēganitēs. The second is simply made with spelt flour instead, and is called staitinos. 1 Cups White Flour. 1 Cups Wheat Flour. 2 Cups curdled milk(Buttermilk). Mix all the ingredients together. Pour a small amount onto a hot greased pan.
