Ollie's Long Distance Swimming Blog. Monday, 25 May 2015. The New Challenge for 2015 - London to Paris Arch to Arc! It's been a while since the last blog. This is mostly due to some frustrating ill-health. It turns out it is possible to do too much exercise! My Heart Beat at Rest! Fortunately it came under control after a few months of rest and medication and I was given the advice to ease back into the swimming and try not to over do it! To see if we make it. Ollie and Vickie Wilkinson. The final prepar...

Ollie's Long Distance Swimming Blog. Monday, 23 July 2012. A marathon is a long way to swim! Swimming 12 hours in the pool presents some additional challenges. 844 laps means 843 tumble turns, that's 843 abdominal crunches and 844 calf springs off a wall or, in other terms, a lot of lactic in a different set of muscles and the physiological effect of tumbling on the stomach while digesting whatever energy gels and drinks you can keep down. Ollie and Vickie Wilkinson. Wednesday, 11 July 2012. Warm up = 4km.

Ollie's Long Distance Swimming Blog. Saturday, 8 October 2011. New York Record Swim - 28/9/2011. I kept my feet on the ground, I knew I would have to earn any success and I had an extremely competent rival, Rondi Davies, to beat also. Rondi is an Australian living in New York and a very experienced, successful long distance swimmer. Is this the end of my race? After 5 and 3/4hrs I beat Shelley's time by less than a minute and a half! New York City Swim report. Comedy news report 1. Comedy news report 2.

Ollie's Long Distance Swimming Blog. Wednesday, 21 August 2013. Lake Zurich Marathon Swim. After feeling nauseous, fatigued and exhausted for the last few hours while swimming, almost the minute I finished I felt great! The satisfaction of another iconic swim ticked off and the pleasure in winning a race seemed to make the physical pain melt away. It probably helped that the sun was now out in force and I was fully able to appreciate the beautiful setting. Ollie and Vickie Wilkinson. Arch to Arc 2015 Blog.

Ollie's Long Distance Swimming Blog. Sunday, 27 February 2011. Rottnest 2011 - the race that almost wasn't! Meanwhile for me my day had started much more relaxing than the previous year. I spotted my mum's fluro rain jacket out of the corner of my vision and mentally relaxed knowing that the race was really underway and it was now up to me. My parents however weren't able to share my relief as Don soon realized he had another problem, the radio wasn’t working! I was in 3. Racing 20km this year was very d...
