http://doundodoundo.blogspot.com/2009/01/double-take-for-gene-yangs-american.html
Friday, January 30, 2009. A double take for Gene Yang's American Born Chinese. S American Born Chinese came out in 2006, critics and readers received pretty it favorably; since then, I've seen it on many a 'must read' list of graphic novels, contemporary biography, graphic novel biography, and so on with the composite subgenres/ media. When I found myself wandering my local comic shop. Posted by L capitan. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Food, my favorite! View my complete profile. And then I said.

Neat practice: Van Zant-tastic: Milk review
http://doundodoundo.blogspot.com/2008/12/tonight-saturday-i-found-myself-without.html
Saturday, December 13, 2008. Van Zant-tastic: Milk review. O December, you really do make it a challenge to get ANYTHING done. I started this review this weekend and it's still sitting here. Gah! Not that I'm on a time line or anything, but when things you like to do keep getting pushed to the back burner, well, you end up with burnt goods. Or some other extended metaphor. Anyway, end rant. A few nights ago- Saturday- I found myself without a thing to do; heavens! What was the Twinkie Defense? View my co...

Neat practice: Phonies at the Symphony
http://doundodoundo.blogspot.com/2009/01/last-friday-night-by-graces-of-god-of.html
Tuesday, January 20, 2009. Phonies at the Symphony. Last Friday night, by the graces of the god of free tickets, I got the opportunity to go see the Dallas Symphony Orchestra with a friend of mine. This was a fairly classy event, so the following review will be about as high brow as I get. Unless we're talking about Stephen Colbert. Anyway, we took the DART train downtown to the Meyerson Symphony Center. Wouldn't that mean the most moving, by some definition? Still, it was great to watch him do his thing.

http://doundodoundo.blogspot.com/2009/04/call-to-level-playing-field-by-way-of.html
Thursday, April 23, 2009. A call to level the playing field by way of early education. Today's review: the state of early education in Texas. No really. I know I don't usually post about such things in the "real world," but I'm a rule breaker if nothing else. Well, that's not true either. but moving on! So, early education in Texas: what's my stake in this? But how to pull off such a massive overhaul? For a start, go to the start of the education system itself. What can be done to improve pre-K? It confi...

Neat practice: Chabon and on and on: a review of Gentlemen of the Road
http://doundodoundo.blogspot.com/2009/04/chabon-and-on-and-on-review-of.html
Friday, April 17, 2009. Chabon and on and on: a review of Gentlemen of the Road. I read Michael Chabon. S totally awesome mega-novel The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Klay. A couple years ago, and since then, I'd been meaning to pick up some more of his work. As usual, it was only several months ago that I bought one of his more recent novels, Gentlemen of the Road. Have criticized Chabon for NOT developing this aspect of the book, but I would argue that Gentlemen. Isn't: Kavalier and Klay. Life-alt...
