Technical Alchemy

An online scratchpad for my ideas, both to inspire others and to invite comment. I know there's a lot I have no knowledge of, so constructive criticism is appreciated! Monday, March 30, 2015. I've never liked blogging, probably because I wanted a more free form state, and my mind bounces around a lot. So, I will be doing a bit more. I've recently wandered across some radar stuff, so I expect to do some wiki and blogging about this. Http:/ technicalchemy.wikidot.com/. Using an HB100 as a radio transciever.

An online scratchpad for my ideas, both to inspire others and to invite comment. I know there's a lot I have no knowledge of, so constructive criticism is appreciated! Wednesday, November 28, 2007. High Frequency RFmodule thoughts. I've been interested in radar for so long. How do you get it to work at short range where you have nanoseconds to determine range? Links to this post. Technical Alchemy: The UAVs are coming!

http://technicalchemy.blogspot.com/2009/05/uavs-are-coming.html

An online scratchpad for my ideas, both to inspire others and to invite comment. I know there's a lot I have no knowledge of, so constructive criticism is appreciated! Thursday, May 07, 2009. The UAVs are coming! I keep seeing daughterboards for these, and this makes me wonder. While it's not ideal, what would happen if you used an IDG 2 axis gyro (x,y) and a more traditional gyro (z) to make a "flat" board? IO Type Aircraft Transceiver. Digital Servos (PWM) Buttons. UART GPS FTDI USB. I'm a mechanical e...

Technical Alchemy: January 2009

An online scratchpad for my ideas, both to inspire others and to invite comment. I know there's a lot I have no knowledge of, so constructive criticism is appreciated! Wednesday, January 21, 2009. Just ran across Microchip's latest toy, a serial SRAM. I haven't looked at this class much as many didn't have a lot of memory, or were slow. This can do 20MHz SPI, not too bad, but still FAR short of the internal RAM speeds. What could we do, though? Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

The Essential Calvin Blog: September 2008

http://essentialcalvin.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html

The Essential Calvin Blog. Wednesday, September 24, 2008. Everything's better on a stick! Natasha took me to the Minnesota State Fair for Labor Day weekend. Well, after I got a ride from Mike because she was in Iowa for work. There's tons of food and it's either on a stick or deep fried. Pork chops, walleye, hot dogs, cheese, chicken, and even spaghetti dinner! The deep fried pickles were awesome (though very hot). You should try them; they're way better than deep fried veggies. This place was huge!

Wednesday, August 11, 2010. The one that's littoral. My awesome cuz told me about this awesome video today. Meet your tax dollars at work. As opposed to paying for illegal aliens' health care, the welfare system, or state lawyers getting paid to commute TO work. Here's a few photos, courtesy of General Dynamics. Monday, July 19, 2010. The one during takeoff. Tuesday, July 13, 2010. The one on a battle ship (OK, technically a destroyer). Christina and I toured the USS Gridley, one of the latest and greatest destroyers in our Naval fleet. The Navy brought her into Seal Beach for a brief publicity stunt, and I was all about it. Thanks to my wife for finding out about it! Hard to believe, I know, that our majestic flag is still allowed to fly free in this state. An M777 Howitzer, with it's Oshkosh Truck towing truck.

http://essentialcalvin.blogspot.com/2010/06/birthday-weekend.html

The Essential Calvin Blog. Sunday, June 27, 2010. Natasha and I wanted to go somewhere for our birthday weekend (Memorial Day weekend) again this year. That choice was easily made since her youngest sister was graduating from Ashland college in way northern WI. After the graduation, we headed up to Bayfield, WI to a bed and breakfast. That night we chose to enjoy the fancy dining at Wild Rice. We took 3 hour evening cruise around the Apostle Islands. We finished off our trip by stopping at Paul Bunyan's.

The Essential Calvin Blog. Sunday, July 20, 2008. I saw Batman at the Navy Pier IMAX Saturday at 9am. It was awesome! I loved seeing Chicago on the huge screen. Heath did a great job playing the Joker. I'm so glad that Natasha went ahead and bought tickets a couple weeks in advance. More to come on the rest of the day. Thursday, July 17, 2008. The Essential Calvin Blog: May 2010

http://essentialcalvin.blogspot.com/2010_05_01_archive.html

The Essential Calvin Blog. Sunday, May 16, 2010. This weekend, we finally decided to clean the deck so that we can eventually stain it. I don't think that this deck has ever been cared for after a previous owner had it built. I forgot to take a picture while it was dry, but here's one after we had wet the surface. It's your typical dark grey weathered look. After applying the 2-in-1 deck cleaner and manually scrubbing, the mildew just melted away. It was very exciting to see the board on the right.
