This is a summary of the soay lambing this year:. 23rd April – twins, 1 gimmer, 1 tup, born to Ellie. 28th April – single tup. 2nd May – single tup. 3rd May – twins, 1 gimmer, 1 tup. None are tagged as yet as our tagging applicator broke so we’re awaiting delivery of a new one. All are healthy, growing, and doing everything they should be. Smallholding and self-sufficiency on 1.6 acres. April 17, 2016. First lamb of the year has arrived today, a single born to one of the ewes from last year. All healthy and ear tagged. Mum wormed so with the exception of Wesley, one of the older ewes and the other 2015 ewe all working is up to date for spring. July 25, 2015. Really pleased with my redcurrant jelly this year. Smallholding and self-sufficiency on 1.6 acres. September 22, 2013. Natures Art Work / Crab apple jelly recipe. Tonight we are in Suffolk enjoying a weekend away, and the sky has done this…. We have hot baked potatoes cooking in the oven and fresh ripe tomatoes to go with some beautiful cold cuts of gammon. It must be autumn. A big bag of crab apples ( you measure the juice later on). Jars and jam tops. Wash and crop your crab apples. Stew until they are pulpy. Put the pulp in a jelly bad or muslin.

Smallholding and self-sufficiency on 1.6 acres. June 21, 2015. So about two/three weeks ago two of our Muscovy girls hatched clutches of ducklings. Vita and one of the chocolates. Vita has hatched 12 and Choc has hatched 4. They are both delighted with themselves. Vita is being her usual lioness type mum, and hisses and jumps at me if I go anywhere near them.
