Ken McCuen Illustration: CG Society Editor’s Choice/ Frontpage Feature
http://kenmccuenillustration.blogspot.com/2015/03/cg-society-editors-choice-frontpage.html
Process, sketches, and painting. Wednesday, March 25, 2015. CG Society Editor’s Choice/ Frontpage Feature. I am very behind on my blogging. Despite a lot of great stuff happening procrastination tends to swallow my posting. I’m going to try to sort out as much as possible (mostly digging through project files and hard-drives) and see what I’m able to put up here. I’m very surprised and honored to receive an Editor’s Choice for my piece of artwork on CGtalk. A forum I’ve lurked on for many years). IMC ill...

Ken McCuen Illustration: September 2013
http://kenmccuenillustration.blogspot.com/2013_09_01_archive.html
Process, sketches, and painting. Monday, September 9, 2013. I attended Fan Expo this summer for the first time ever and it made for a really awesome weekend. It makes me wish I had been able to attend other years. It was a constant parade of art and costumes, celebrities, and a couple promising portfolio reviews. Here's some shots from some abridged highlights of my experience:. First panel I attended for the television series Orphan Black (hosted by Inner space). George Takei from Star Trek! It was a bi...

Process, sketches, and painting. Sunday, September 7, 2014. Taking Woodstock Matte Painting. This is one of the first large-scale matte paintings I ever worked on (late 2008) for a film called Taking Woodstock starring Demetri Martin. There was lots of mud, garbage, and debris to paint on this one. www.kenmccuen.com. For more shots of the created environment. I'll probably be back in the future with more shots that I worked on. Ken McCuen Illustration: January 2014
http://kenmccuenillustration.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html
Process, sketches, and painting. Thursday, January 2, 2014. I noticed that you use color flats in your process. I was wondering what they are and the purpose that they serve? When I started doing work for clients I found most of their revisions on finals to be color revisions. I find it helps a lot in my workflow. I can spend a solid block of time cutting out complex shapes of the drawing rather mindlessly and then decide on the final palette all at once at the end. Posted by Ken McCuen.

Ken McCuen Illustration: Concept Art Article
http://kenmccuenillustration.blogspot.com/2014/02/concept-art-article.html
Process, sketches, and painting. Sunday, February 9, 2014. This is a really well-written article on some of misconceptions of what “concept art” actually is. In other news I also added some film concept art images to my portfolio on the main page:. Posted by Ken McCuen. I dont even remember now how i found your blog, because that was over an hour ago. Ive spent the last hour loving your art! I looked through everything and now you have a new fan. I love your colours and design. Its beautiful! Im actually...
