Walking Britain's wild, high and remote places. Sunday, 20 July 2014. Stoodley Pike, Cragg Vale and Blake Moor from Todmorden - Tour de France walk 6.7.14. A circular walk, 13.5 miles. A good walk in the heart of Calderdale starting in picturesque Todmorden, taking in the Stoodley Pike monument, the rather delightful Cragg Vale and the wild wind swept high ground that is Blake Moor. Following the A646 through the town, note the thatch weaved bike on the left. The track here soon becomes a rather overgrow...

Fell Finder: March 2013
http://fell-finder.blogspot.com/2013_03_01_archive.html
Walking Britain's wild, high and remote places. Monday, 18 March 2013. I had been looking at buying a pair of crampons to take with me on winter hikes, but I had foreseen a few problems. Firstly crampons are expensive, even the cheapest good looking pair are retailing for around £80! They are marked left and right so you can't get mixed up, and they are easy to get on even on the hill. Right, lets go hiking. In deep snow they are a comfort preventing slipping and helping make a quicker pace. They made ea...

Walking Britain's wild, high and remote places. Tuesday, 31 December 2013. Stanage Edge 29.12.13. A circular walk, 5.3 miles, 3 - 4 hours. A classic Peak District walk taking in some of the most recognisable and dramatic landscapes in the region. Ideal for a Sunday stroll to blow away those cobwebs. The Christmas holidays were almost over, and that meant it was time to get out into the hills to get some air prior to returning to the stresses and normality of the working week. We took the right hand gap i...

Fell Finder: November 2014
http://fell-finder.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Walking Britain's wild, high and remote places. Sunday, 16 November 2014. A rough day on Helvellyn. Plus the rain and wind predicted was not set to hit that area of the country until late afternoon. On finally arriving into Patterdale it was light rain, I made my way to the Patterdale Hotel where I had decided to start my walk from, I purchased some refreshment, then made my way towards the foot of Helvellyn. Here outside of the hotel just after arrival. Links to this post. Height: 485 metres (1,591 ft).

Fell Finder: December 2012

Walking Britain's wild, high and remote places. Friday, 14 December 2012. Rab Ascent Jacket Review. 5 out of 5 stars. The cut of the jacket is quite long. I bought mine in a medium and in all honesty I probably could have got away with a small, but I was concerned I wouldn't be able to get winter clothing underneath it when backpacking. Another good thing about this down jacket is the outer material, Pertex Endurance 50 Denier Shell - a highly water resistant material, that can also take abuse from rucks...

A small walk taking in two of the highest points in the Leeds area. Secondly, anyone who can remember New Years Day 2014 will remember one distinct memory of it, it was lashing down. Here landing at Horsforth station at 13:40pm. At the top of Station Road I turned right at the roundabout in front of the Old Ball pub. It's a bit muddy.

This Yorkshire Dales walk heads from the North Yorkshire town of Hawes in Wensleydale, through to the edges of Swaledale and back, taking in two of the Dale's summits over 2000 feet.
