lost in wonder, love and praise: confessions of an evangelical egalitarian
http://wonderlovenpraise.blogspot.com/2012/01/confessions-of-evangelical-egalitarian.html
Lost in wonder, love and praise. Thursday, January 5, 2012. Confessions of an evangelical egalitarian. Today, I'm coming clean, as if any reading this don't know by now. I'm an egalitarian. I believe that God calls both men and women to serve him in all capacities of church leadership and ministry, and I reject the principle of male headship in marriage and family. The scene shifts to Wheaton College. I was a young theology student who still clung to his unexamined legalism disguised as garden variet...

lost in wonder, love and praise: March 2011
http://wonderlovenpraise.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html
Lost in wonder, love and praise. Tuesday, March 29, 2011. All the heroes and legends I knew as a child have turned into idols of clay. - Styx. The dearest idol I have known,. Whate’er that idol be. Help me to tear it from Thy throne,. And worship only Thee. But we all bow down to idols. I knew a lot of people growing up who idolized their children. Their life was consumed with their kids, trying to never let them experience pain or feel sad or want for anything. Later on, when these kids were bli...I am ...

Monday, July 18, 2011. The wifi connection in my room has been limited these last few days and so I did not have an opportunity to write. Many things have happened since I last wrote. I sang in rehearsal.with Schola Cantorum, I travelled up Avila mountain, met the infamous Alberto Grau, had dinner at Maria Guinand's gorgeous house, watched Harry Potter The Deathly Hallows Pt.2 in 3D (my very first 3D experience and in Spanish! Choral Corner: Finding Salvador
http://choralcorner.blogspot.com/2011/06/finding-salvador.html
Monday, June 06, 2011. Today hasn't really been a good day. I woke up with an acute pain in my jaw which hasn't really subsided. I think that my wisdom teeth are back.Yes, I mean BACK! I am not kidding when I say that they have grown back for a second time! For the sake of entertainment: I had two sets of wisdom teeth removed, another another set of molars growing. What can I say, I am either very wise or a freak of nature! So, why Salvador? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Mi vida, mi mundo coral.

Choral Corner: Back to school...
http://choralcorner.blogspot.com/2010/10/back-to-school.html
Sunday, October 03, 2010. It's hard to believe that exactly one month ago, I was on vacation. Today marks is probably the only evening since then that I could sit down and write. Seeing as to how the past four weeks have been rather eventful, I feel the urge to share a little about my life. With the Stathcona Choir Workshop behind me, I can now focus on rehearsing my graduate recital choir. For those of you who are not familiar with how the graduate program in conducting at the University of Alberta ...

Awesome Adventures: Now, that was a year!
http://chuckking.blogspot.com/2014/11/now-that-was-year.html
Cycling, Running, and Travel. Maybe I'm easily "awed." Here I write about simple pleasures that delight me. Your mileage may vary. Now, that was a year! In the year since my last birthday, I . . . Finished writing my MA thesis. Took on a second adjunct teaching job. Edited, my thesis. Took on an interim church choir job. And edited it some more. Took my first selfie. Accepted a one-year teaching appointment. Prepared to teach a full course load. Prepared to direct a college band. Now, that was a year!

Awesome Adventures: January 2014
http://chuckking.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html
Cycling, Running, and Travel. Maybe I'm easily "awed." Here I write about simple pleasures that delight me. Your mileage may vary. I am struck with how little poetry we are exposed to. I think I've had pretty good lit courses, from high school through my undergrad days. At one point, as late as my senior year of college, I thought maybe I'd change course and finish a degree in English lit rather than music. (Some days, I wish I had! So this was a nice surprise in my first few days of reading through.

Awesome Adventures: That old New Oxford Book of English Verse

Cycling, Running, and Travel. Maybe I'm easily "awed." Here I write about simple pleasures that delight me. Your mileage may vary. That old New Oxford Book of English Verse. Has got its spell on me. I think my math skills are not all they might be. Wendell Barry beckons, as does Dante in that John Ciardi translation that came out around the same time I picked up the NOBEV. The poetry and drama of Antiquity forced its way into my year of reading poetry (fascinating to me that classical references cont...
