The property consists of three sections, the old house which is around 150 years old, the new house which is about 100 years old and the "dependencies’" which was probably where the chickens were kept in former times, part is around 100 years old and part is breeze-block! We have a small front garden but no back garden. In common with many old French houses we share common walls, someone else’s house leans against ours at the back! Make a Free Website.

Chaillevette is about 100Km north of Bordeaux and about 70 Km south of La Rochelle. The chic resort of Royan is about 15Km away. In all there are about 30Km of sandy beaches stretching from Ronce les Bains to Royan We are about 15km from the nearest beach and 2Kms from the river. Make a Free Website.

The Grenier

The Grenier is above the old house and so has a floor area of 6x5M and a height of 2m (max). This will be turned into the main bedroom with a shower and toilet. Originally there was a single small window to the front and the entrance was via ladder to the door in the top left of the picture. Access was by a ladder (actually two! From the kitchen but in early 2010 we had a staircase put in along with two velux roof-windows. The space where the ladder was has been turned into a walk in food store.
