I was also thinking about doing Dental assisting which is offered at the community college and it won't cost me that much money. What should I do? Should I stay in my class? I will be going to dental assisting-basic which is 17 hours and then advance dental assisting which is 21 hours. I am going full time, Mon-Thurs. from 8am-11:30am everyday. When do you think i will be finished? On average how long would it take to complete 38 credit hours at a college? 3 semesters or 1.5 years. Reply:You could do it in one year to one and a half. Saturday, May 15, 2010. I will only have to take 17 hours of college, what does this mean? I am going to a community college to study for Dental Assisting and it says for basic dental, it will be 17 hours and then advanced will take 21 hours. So i'm sure i will take the basic then go to advance. What does 'hours' really mean? Will i be in school for about a year or less?
