My ramblings, rants and reflections on TEFL. The TEFL Show Podcasts. All posts by marekkiczkowiak. A NNEST perspective on teacher development: a complicity of silence? May 24, 2016. Recently, there’s been quite a lot of debate about initial teacher training programmes such as CELTA or CertTESOL and how adequately they prepare people to enter ELT profession. For example, Hugh Dellar argues in this post. And if you feel more like listening rather than reading, then you can check out this podcast. Newslette...

Reflections on lesson planning – Wandering ELT

https://wanderingelt.com/2016/12/20/reflections-on-lesson-planning

Wandering in (almost) Absolute Freedom the realm of ELT. Reflections on lesson planning. Some time ago we had a training session about lesson planning at our school. Due to quality standards, we are required to write formal lesson plans for every lesson we teach, which can be quite overwhelming when you teach an average of 25-30 hours a week. So to vent my frustration I went online and had a very positive conversation on Twitter with Vendrana. Here are some of the ideas that came up:. Secondly, I found t...

Teacher Sherrie – The Road Less Travelled. Reflections on teaching, learning and various research interests. Productivity Moment by Moment. March 25, 2015. March 25, 2015. It has become clear to me that pursuing full-time academic or research work revolves around writing. There’s thinking, reading, musing, but writing is the central activity that binds all the activities of scholarship and knowledge finding and creation into a visible, searchable, reflect-able artifact. The UK-style phd program can lead to an isolating experience with the phd student engaged in solo acts of reading and writing. Having study groups may fill that lonely gap, but how can this be done? Oh, the more we get together,. Together, together,. Oh, the more we get together,. The happier we’ll be. Not often at all!

This whole business of writing and refining your proposal is an exercise in building up stamina, finding new routes, and being persistent in moving forward. Teacher Sherrie – The Road Less Travelled. Reflections on teaching, learning and various research interests. My love-hate relationship with writing deadlines. April 1, 2015. April 1, 2015. I can’t write without them. I mean thoughtful, focused writing when your mind could wander off on another theory, another concept, another methodology. I’m not sure if I can meet this all important deadline. I know there’s the option to extend the deadline but I’d rather not if I can help it. ...Sure, it’s stress...

TEFL RECALL | My Adventures Teaching English Abroad

My Adventures Teaching English Abroad. The Doctor Will See You Now. March 13, 2013 – 4:54 am. Being someone who only sparingly goes to the doctor – I typically need to be in some kind of searing pain or after some travel jabs – it was with some trepidation that I discovered yesterday that I’d need to go to a health clinic to get a physical before getting my permanent work visa. The paperwork done, thus became a scavenger hunt of collecting signatures as we ticked off the necessary department visits.

July 12, 2015 · 5:50 pm. Let’s just laugh. Originally posted on soundtrek. Everyone makes embarassing mistakes when they learn another language. I spent my whole year abroad in Italy telling people that I had 23 asses (ho 23 ani), instead of saying I was 23 years old (ho 23 anni). But mistakes are a normal part of learning. It’s our attitude to them which makes the difference between being afraid to open our mouths and getting stuck, or having fun and learning. May 17, 2015 · 4:48 pm. Language learning i...

TEFL Reviews

Monday, January 23, 2012. Serious Teachers seems to be an excellent site for Teachers wanting to find various types of teaching jobs. Very easy site to navigate as well as many unique features such as Find a Teacher. It is very bright and definitely well thought out. I also reviewed their online TEFL course called "Serious TEFL" and honestly I haven't found one comparable in the online market to it as of yet. I based this on price, user friendly, customer service and curriculum. Posted by Sarah Tynsdale.
