TELENOVELAS Fall 2009: Fin.
http://telenovelasfall09.blogspot.com/2009/12/fin.html
Saturday, December 5, 2009. Alright, so I'm slightly nostalgic that we had our last official class yesterday. Where has the time gone? As I'm writing up my last paper (which, by the way, THANK YOU DR. A. FOR PUTTING ME IN TOUCH WITH PERLA FARIAS! She emailed me back and I about had a heart attack! From Marisa to Ruxi, all the way to Alberto Gomez and (I pray this works on Sunday) Leonardo Padron and Roque Valero. WE EVEN MET DR. A's MOM! It's been a whirlwind of a semester and I know that it's only the b...

Wednesday, April 22, 2009. Can I just tell you? Here I am, on a business trip. I want to watch a movie, but nothing really great is on HBO. So I think about renting one on the movie channel. Well ladies and gentlemen, those movies are now $13.00! What am I to do? I feel hopeless, like my whole night will be a little less awesome because I can't do what I really want to do. Enter Joel's amazing idea. That's right $3-$5 rentals of ANY movie you can think of! Now, what movie do I choose. Dinner and a Movie.

TELENOVELAS Fall 2009: Romania: A World Away that Hits So Close to Home
http://telenovelasfall09.blogspot.com/2009/12/romania-world-away-that-hits-so-close.html
Wednesday, December 2, 2009. Romania: A World Away that Hits So Close to Home. On Monday, we talked to Ruxandra Ciobanu, a telenovela junkie all the way from Romania. Ruxi says she started watching telenovelas about six years ago, when she was 17 years old. I'm about Ruxi's age, and six years ago, I was watching melodramatic teen dramas like "The O.C." Come to think about it, the similarities between "The O.C." and the typical telenovela are incredible. . December 7, 2009 at 1:20 AM. Last Post- So sad!

TELENOVELAS Fall 2009: An Open Minded Industry

Wednesday, December 2, 2009. An Open Minded Industry. December 2, 2009 at 8:28 PM. Just like Marisa Roman, the generosity of telenovela actors and writers springs from their desire to teach others about their culture, which is a very unique aspect. It shows that the telenovela actors are much more down to earth than many Hollywood actors. It seems like they do it for the true passion of acting- not just for fame and money. TELENOVELAS Fall 2009: Will the telenovela ever die?
http://telenovelasfall09.blogspot.com/2009/12/will-telenovela-ever-die.html
Wednesday, December 2, 2009. Will the telenovela ever die? It's safe to say American soap operas have seen better days. Although far from dead, they aren't getting the ratings they used to. Could the same ever. Happen to the telenovela industry? With such a gigantic following in Latin America alone, it seems telenovelas may outlive humans, maybe even planet Earth. It takes a strong will to look away. And it's going to take "the big bang" to kill the telenovela. December 2, 2009 at 8:06 PM. Just like any ...
