Where was DDT found and what did it effect? DDT was a pesticide that was used to help plants grow by killing the insects that harmed them. When DDT was in use, the plant industry grew, but the bird population decreased. Now that DDT has been banned, the plants have a harder time surviving because of the insects that get at them.
