Sean A. Metcalf. Creative Series: Paul Windle. Paul Windle was a Texas designer, but recently moved to the Big Apple to pursue illustration. I was fortunate to be Paul's classmate in college and even luckier to snag some of his screen prints. Paul has a very quirky style and creates these unique hand-drawn characters that have their own personality. Check out Pauls advice for design students in the latest Creative Series Q&A. Maike Plenzke
http://domesticetch.blogspot.com/2012/12/maike-plenzke.html
Love love love love love. You know I have a soft spot for the layered gouache look, and the geometry and amazing attention to detail in Maike's work is just stunning. Even despite the strongly emphasized two-dimensionality of her pieces, there is still a great sense of depth and almost glowing light. Not to mention how fun and cinematic all of the scenes she depicts are. More work on her blog. Thursday, December 6, 2012. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Buy the magazine here. I'm not exactly sure why, but this is how I spent today. I recently went out to the Brandywine Battlefield and also Valley Forge for the first time since I was like 7, and it was a super delightful day. My new history-era crush is suddenly the revolution. I am certain this would make my father very proud.
