Lisa's Travel Blog. November 19, 2014. Cycling Trip to Sorrento. It has been quite some time since my last post, around six months to be exact! As usual it is easy to get lazy with these things, so I’ve decided to do a little post about a recent cycling trip I went on with a friend visiting from the states for the summer. The trip was a lot of fun, and it was nice to get away from Melbourne for a couple of days. It was amazing to see the drastic difference from one side of the bay to the other. S...Last ...

Lisa's Travel Blog. May 16, 2014. Melbourne Cricket Ground Stadium – Richmond, VIC. Last weekend I attended my first Australian Footy match at the Melbourne Cricket Grounds Stadium. We had a friend visiting for the weekend who is studying abroad outside of Sydney, so it was the perfect time to give it a go. I definitely enjoyed the experience, and it was the first large sporting event that I have ever been to outside of the U.S. And posted in Australia. Salvation Mountain and Slab City. Lisa's Travel Blog. In January of 2011, I traveled with two of my friends, Adam and Kaitlin, to Thailand and Cambodia. After visiting Cambodia for a few days, we headed back to Thailand where we spent a night in Pattaya, Thailand. We didn’t take any photos that night, but this is a photo I took as we were leaving our hotel that morning. Adam and I swimming at the beach in Koh Samet, Thailand. Adam and Kaitlin following their wreck. Kaitlin (left) and myself (right) during our island exploration. We got d...

Lisa's Travel Blog. In the distance you can see the small village that appears in the next photo. Throughout the desert there were random areas of greenery, which were usually accompanied by a small community. This is a photo I took as we were driving by. I took a video clip of us riding past a similar village you can watch by clicking this link – Lima to Arequipa. Most of the ride looked pretty similar to this. This is a typical street-view in the city center of Arequipa, Peru. View of Arequipa, Peru th...

Lisa's Travel Blog. April 17, 2014. Salvation Mountain and Slab City. Photo of Justin and I visiting Salvation Mountain. In the year 2000, the American Folk Art Society declared Leonard’s creation “a folk art site worthy of protection and preservation.” Leonard spent decades working on this monument, and he lived an extremely modest lifestyle in the back of an old pick-up truck he made into a make-shift shelter next to his project. At the site, a sign reads:. The front of Salvation Mountain. No electrici...
