Love God, Love People, Follow Jesus. Author Archives: Soldier For Christ. Generosity in the Life of Stuart Scott. January 11, 2015. By Soldier For Christ. As I sit and watch a playoff game in the National Football League, I find myself thinking about something that I heard earlier this week. It was a major event in the world of sports that Stuart Scott, an analyst for the sports network ESPN, passed away last weekend. There is a mind-boggling number of stars in the universe that we have discovered, and a...

Spiritual Disciplines: Prayer (Part 1) | My Faith Journey
https://journeyofachristian.wordpress.com/2013/06/02/spiritual-disciplines-prayer-part-1
Love God, Love People, Follow Jesus. Spiritual Disciplines: Prayer (Part 1). June 2, 2013. By Soldier For Christ. As someone who is trying to follow Jesus, I would hope that my hypocrisy in prayer never outweighed my authentic wish to speak to the God who created me. I may never know the answer to that, but I bring this up for a purpose. Prayer for the Jesus-follower, seemingly so simple, is actually a rather difficult thing to learn. For instance, what should we pray about, and when? Jesus told a parabl...

Autumn Arboretum: January 2011

Thursday, January 13, 2011. The Basis For This Blog. Up until now, more concerning was the incongruity of my surroundings, yet now a single though permeates my thoughts. Where am I? It seems so familiar, and yet foreign as well. The feeling I have been here before is overwhelming, yet, even as I examine this, my mind is scanning memories, insisting otherwise. Such contradicting emotions! My heart tells me I must have, yet all reason and sanity say otherwise. What does it mean? As I look towards that firs...

Love God, Love People, Follow Jesus. Knowing When to Talk and When Not to Talk. May 8, 2013. By Soldier For Christ. So there is a particular reason why I haven’t posted anything new in the last few weeks: quite simply, I’ve been distracted. It’s the end of the semester and that typically results in me running short on time for things like blogging. I don’t really have a resolution to these thoughts. All I can think is that “there is a time for everything…a time to speak and a time t...Fill in your detail...

Autumn Arboretum: July 2011
http://autumnarboretum.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html
Tuesday, July 5, 2011. Here is an excerpt of a book I have been working on. Hope you enjoy. The half formed thought came crashing to a halt. The streets and buildings were a blur. Cars were falling behind him, time seemed to have no meaning. He was moving faster than sight could follow. He glanced behind and saw a wake of destruction. It looked as if a great explosive force had shot up the sidewalk on which he ran. What is going on? Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Lux lucis in Obscurum.

Love God, Love People, Follow Jesus. Newer posts →. Spiritual Disciplines: What’s the Point? March 24, 2013. By Soldier For Christ. As much as I joke in the presence of my friends and family about being old, I know that I’m really young. On the grand scale of life, I’ve only been an adult for a moment. As I am maturing, I am still learning a powerful principle of life: how you spend your time is a reflection of what’s important to you. Catholic churches during the Middle Ages used stained glass images to...
