Friday, January 16, 2009. Uh-ohwe seem to have a leak. So, I walked into the kitchen this morning, a couple of hours after breakfast, and saw a small puddle of water on the floor in front of the refrigerator. Then I noticed a drip from the ceiling. When I looked up, I saw a "blister" of dry wall hanging down from the ceiling, dripping water. Here is a close-up.you can see there are water stains around the light fixture also. Saturday, May 31, 2008. We LOVE the floors! The tile floors are done and most of the Brazilian Teak was down, except for DH's office and some closet space in the great room. The floors are gorgeous! They still need to be sanded and sealed and then they will really be awesome! This is the family room, taken from the kitchen. Thursday, July 31, 2008. Oh, dear - someone please make these flies go away! I guess that's what you get when you have someone spreading smelly topsoil on the same day that the doors are all open so the movers can unload the moving van. I swatted a bunch of them, but there are a gazillion more, I think! So, I spent the day unpacking boxes. Here is a photo of the vent over the cooktop. Saturday, June 28, 2008. The stairs are looking great, but. The stairs were looking great when we got to the house, but there was a guy working on staining them and we couldn't go upstairs! I really wanted to see the master bathroom and the sewing studio, where I think they may have installed the cabinets already. I gave the carpenters the pulls/knobs for the sewing studio cabinets, but it will be Tuesday before anyone can go upstairs. This is a shot from the first floor heading down to the basement.

Sunday, January 28, 2007. Knitters and quilters love fibers. Art Quilters are exploring the world of fibers by incorporating yarns, felted wool, and hand-dyed fabric in their new creations. Was the featured speaker. Dorothy is an expert on dyeing yarns and fabric with mushrooms. Lydia is an amazing woman, still going strong and wearing wild socks at 96. Our five lives have been woven together over many years and every so often serendipity brings us together again. Today was one of those special days.

Saturday, June 6, 2009. So sore.yesterday I weeded this flowerbed. There were lots of weeds - the flowerbed above looked like this one before I weeded it. I weeded a whole wheelbarrow full of weeds out of the bed. Today I weeded the other large flower bed in front of the house (the one in the photo above). Tortellini, the tortoise, enjoyed wandering around in the sunshine while I weeded. I learned that he likes to eat dianthus flowers. :-D. Don't the beds look nice now that they are all mulched? So, I left my DH and DS at home to continue working on the house while I went down to Houston to the International Quilt Market and Festival from Thursday-Monday. (For those not interested in quilts, scroll down and you'll find some info on our house projects.).
