Gedanken aus Berstadt: April 2015

Android * Linux * Terry Pratchett * Apache * Science Fiction * Fantasy * Bücher * Politik * Die Wetterau * Berstadt.

Android * Linux * Terry Pratchett * Apache * Science Fiction * Fantasy * Bücher * Politik * Die Wetterau * Berstadt. Rpm -F - force.

Sunday, October 26, 2008. I've been noticing that pyNeighborhood has its shortcomings. However, it is, unfortunately, one of the better clients out there. This didn't stop me from taking a peek at the AUR today to see what was offered. First off was autoscan. Then I came across g2sc. This program, still under development, seemed like it could be my answer as a successor to pyNeighborhood. Alas, it appears to be outdated, as well. Written at 11:54 PM by Bonecrusher. Friday, March 28, 2008. It's alive. IT'S ALIVEEEEEE. Oh, as a side note: We were unable to enter anything into the terminal in xfce. I have no idea why this could be, but it is really annoying. I'm about to start a google search for that bit of information. I also should write on the WICD forums or google around for similar problems to what I had. Written at 9:57 AM by Bonecrusher. Monday, February 16, 2009. Lately I've been having a bit of an itch to try out a tilling WM. I see screenshots of people having a grand old time with awesome or dwm or any of the other (I'm sure many) tiling windows managers. Also the small footprint, noted many times and recently. By kmandla, is pretty appealing, as well. Obviously this is just me being a worry wart; Linux used to make me feel the same way. I felt like at a moments notice I could destroy the entire system. The feeling of not having full...

Tuesday, September 23, 2008. Wbar: Nice little eye candy. Thanks to forum poster msdark. I've run into a little project called wbar. It's a nice looking quicklaunch bar that could potentially find its way onto my desktop or laptop. I'll try it out in the near future as there seems to be a PKGBUILD in aur for both the program itself. And a gui configuration tool. Written in python for some of its options. Definitely marking this one down as "to-do.". Written at 2:11 PM by Bonecrusher. Links to this post.

Friday, February 29, 2008. Since the bcm43xx drivers are being replaced by the b43 drivers that still blow ( : , I ordered a pcmcia card for my laptop. A D-Link dwl-g630 is coming my way. I've read quite a few success stories with it. Plus it was under 20 bucks, so I couldn't pass it up. Hopefully it'll come in today, if not Monday. I really want to toy around with it. Wednesday, January 21, 2009. Slock, looking into mythbox. For a while I've been looking for an easy/no-hassle way to lock my computer. I realize I could just as easily log out, but I didn't feel like exiting X and all that jazz. Enter slock. This program is wonderful, as is expected from suckless. Type in `slock` and bam, monitor flicks off and your session is locked. Type in your password and bam, monitor flicks back on. Really nice. This one's added to my ever increasing note pile.
