Thursday, November 09, 2006. Things that are going right for me:. The immigration papers are almost complete, soon all we’ll have to do is wait. We’ve figured out a plan to save 50 dollars a month on our telecommunications AND have a home phone. We’ve begun to explore new wines and taken up the habit of eating dinner at the table. It’s very exciting. I’m earning enough money at the bookstore right now to not be so worried about financial issues. I’m learning so much! Im a Canadian artist/designer living ...

Tomfoolery: September 2007

Tuesday, September 18, 2007. Jill Greenberg's Monkey Portraits. I've seen her photography collection. In the bookstore, but I was happily suprised to find a link to her collection on one of the blogs I frequent. Jill Greenberg. Is just. really cool. Her work has a strange, highly expressive quality that calls to my mind baroque portraiture. I am a happy egg! Incredible how human they are. They remind me of people I know, though I won't mention any names. *evil grin*. Monday, September 10, 2007. Summer is...

Monday, February 12, 2007. Today, kids, we're going to learn about "umami". Can you say "umami"? Of course, finding out about this discovery has isolated for me what it is that makes me love certain foods. I just really really like umami. Wednesday, August 30, 2006. This is a test entry. So, I'm wondering if I will actually manage to make this blog work. I really like the look of these blogger blogs and I often see much better journals here too. Let's see where it goes. Posted by Ashley de Jong-Doucette at 8/30/2006 08:17:00 PM. Friday, August 10, 2007. How many things can happen in 6 months? Well, it's been a while since I made any additions to this blog that I was once so excited about. In merely 6 months, a number of life-altering, reality-shifting things have occurred. And so, to summarize, I shall make a list! 1 We got kittens! Diva and Doolittle, two amazingly energetic and horribly affectionate little fluffballs that make life happier and softer. They're orange tabbies and quite good-looking, if I do say so myself. Said t...

My favorite band is a witch. My Beautiful Dark Twisted Utterly Predictable Fantasy. November 23, 2010. Discussion over on ILM. About the new Kanye LP. Probably the first real music writing I’ve done since law school started, or at least the first decent. I like this WAY more than I expected to, especially given that Kanye seems to be continuing along the trajectory that started to grate c. Probably on par with 808s, but still contending for top 10 spots with. Sorry – i wasn’t thinking through...His dad g...

Just discovered this Swedish TV special of Aretha live in 1968. Not much to say here but damn. Spent the weekend obsessively listening to Ambling Alp. By Yeasayer and discovered Bettye Lavette. HAve a great deal to think/write about both of them. But for now, there’s end-of-year Jukeboxery to deal with. And everything is going to the beat…. November 12, 2009. Unfor...

My favorite band is a witch. Monthly Archives: January 2010. Hit hit hit hit hit hit me with lightning…. January 22, 2010. The lovely Ellie Goulding has finally made Starry Eyed (one of my favourite songs of 2009) an official release, accompanied by a trippy blurry lovely video. The new version of the track has fuller drums, a few more production tricks and is a bit less wispy and ethereal. I haven’t decided if this is a good thing or not. Epic Russ Chimes Disco Edit: Starry Eyed (Russ Chimes Remix).
