Several thousand years ago, humankind learned to make vases out of metal by building a shape in wax, then wrapping that shape in clay. When the clay was fired, the wax melted out. Then molten metal could be poured into the hollowed out clay, to harden and become the desired vase. This process is called cire perdue. This website is intended to continue that building and shaping process through photographs and further information and reflection on themes and topics from the book, and by offering connections.
